BLU is a cell phone manufacture based in Miami, FL that specializes in low-cost smartphones. They have been around since 1985, and launched their own brand, BLU, in 2010.
Time for a more detailed look at some of the important features on the BLU View 1 with our review.
BLU View 1 Tracfone Review
TouchscreenThe BLU View 1 comes with a large 5.5" screen in the popular 18:9 ratio which are both great features on this phone. The resolution on the screen, however, is not great, at just 480x960 pixels which is about 195 pixels per inch. By comparison, the Galaxy A10e has 295 PPI and the average for smartphones is 300 PPI. The higher the PPI the more detailed images will be on the screen.
Overall the screen is large, but not the most impressive when it comes to quality and clarity.
Internal Specs - Storage, Processor and RAM
Most Tracfone smartphones come with 16 GB storage and 2 GB RAM, and the BLU View 1 follows this trend. But most users would prefer a larger storage capacity, at 32 GB, which allows for many more apps, photos, songs and more to be kept on the device. The actual internal storage on the BLU View 1 after the Operating System and pre-installed apps is closer to 6 GB. Additional storage is available with a microSD card.
As for the processor, it is a Quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 which balances performance with energy consumption. It is not the best for resource intensive games or apps.
Camera
The 8 MP rear camera on the BLU View 1 comes with an LED flash and 1080p recording capability. There is also a front facing selfie camera with 5 MP. Overall the cameras are adequate, but can be slow and struggle in lower lighting.

Battery
At 2500 mAh, the battery is on the smaller side but still enough power to get through most of a day with low to moderate usage. On the bright side, the battery is removable in case you want to replace it at some point.
Android OS
The operating system on the BLU View 1 is Android 9.0 Pie which features a number of nice improvements over previous versions. Some of those improvements include gesture navigation, app usage statistics and time limits, and adaptive battery for improved performance.
Tracfone does not typically allow phones they sell to get OS updates so it is usually best to get a phone with a more recent version of Android to keep it secure and free from any risks. In some cases Tracfone has offered OS updates.
Design
Compared to some of the other recent phones form Tracofne including the Samsung Galaxy A10e, the BLU View 1 is nice, but just not as sleek. It has large bevels around the screen, and is a little thicker than many.
Conclusion
This phone comes in at a very reasonable price, but the lack of any impressive features leave it better suited for users looking for a backup device or a phone they won't use for too much beyond calling and texting. The BLU View 1 just doesn't have the performance to keep up with more resource intensive applications and the screen while large, just isn't the best quality.
For some other options with more performance, storage and improved screen, consider the Samsung Galaxy A10e or even the Moto G6 which has been available for a couple years now.

I love my 100dl tracfone but unfortunately I am unable to find a nice cover for it except a universal black fold over belt type which is too masculine for me.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review here. I bought a BLU VIEW 1 days ago and I'm learning how it functions now (it's my first cell-phone ever).

ReplyDeleteI like very much the slower processor (not a gamer) that enhances battery life. My Samsung J3 Luna Pro with the Dark Mode is much better with extending battery life, however. I turn the WiFi and Data off to save the battery but in spite of setting WiFi Preferences to "WiFi doesn't turn back on automatically" it often turns on by itself anyhow. Beyond those two things, my Blu View 1 is a great phone at a great (low) price. I like it!
