Full Review of the LG 306G from Tracfone
This review by TracfoneReviewer will cover the features, specs, likes and dislikes, and buying tips for the LG 306G.Full Review of the LG 306G |
Tracfone Wireless is a prepaid cell phone company providing low cost phones and minutes to customers throughout the US. They have a variety of phones, including Android smartphones (See our reviews of these phones on our Cell Phone Reviews page).
The LG 306G is a relatively new (2014) offering from Tracfone that features a touchscreen, WiFi, Triple Minutes for life and runs on GSM networks. (We will cover more about the GSM network further down).
It is similar to the very popular LG 840G, but a few years newer. Both phones use a non-Android OS and are a somewhat small size compared to other phones.
Let's take a look at the detailed features for the LG 306G.
LG 306G Features and Specs
This phone comes with all the standard features you expect from a non-Android phone.- WiFi Capability
- GPS Connectivity
- 5 Customizable Home Screens
- 2MP Camera
- Mobile Web with 3G Speeds
- Text and Picture messaging
- 4GB Micro SD Card (up to 32GB Compatible)
- Bluetooth
- MP3 Player
- Gravity Sensor (tilt sensor)
- 1000 Entry Phonebook
- Handsfree speaker
- Alarm Clock
- Call Waiting, Caller ID, Voicemail, Voice Recorder
Specs and Dimensions
- 3.2" Touchscreen
- Size: 4.08" x 2.47" x 0.47" (inches)
- Weight: 3.72 OZ
- Battery: 3 Hours talk time, 17 days on Standby
The features and specs for the LG 306G are comparable to other Tracfone devices like the LG 530G, Samsung S390G or, as we mentioned already, the LG 840G.
The key features for this phone are GSM network, touchscreen, WiFi and Triple Minutes. Let's get into what we like, and don't like, about the LG 306G to break it down a little further.
LG 306G Review - Likes and Dislikes
Starting with what we Like:Apps on the LG 306G |
The LG 306G is similar to the LG 840G which was a very popular phone for Tracfone users. Thus, the LG 306G has many of these same great features.
WiFi access, 3G speed, and the 3.2" touchscreen are all very nice to have. The touchscreen is fairly bright and responsive. The phone also has 5 home screens which you can customize.
Battery life on the LG 306G is good, especially compared to smartphones. It should last a few days with moderate use, and even a week with light use (it is advertised to last 17 days on standby).
The phone comes with a 4GB Micro SD card which you can put music on, or use to store pictures etc. For those who want to put a lot of stuff on the phone, you can upgrade your SD card to up to 32GB.
We like that the LG 306G does not use the new '3 buckets' system for minutes, but rather the older option where you have minutes from one pool used for data, texting and calling. (If you would rather have separate pools for data, texts and calling, take a look at the Android smartphones.) This is the same way the LG 840G worked. Basically, if you do a lot of texting this is a better option for you. And this phone also comes with Triple Minutes for Life, so every time you add minutes they will be tripled.
The LG 306G uses the GSM network, probably running on AT&T cell phone service. All of the new Android smartphones use CDMA networks, which are Verizon towers. So if Verizon service isn't very good in your area, you should go with a GSM phone like the LG 306G (but make sure AT&T service is good in your area). To check, try asking your friends or neighbors, or enter your zip code on the Tracfone website. (for more on these networks, read our GSM vs CDMA Guide.)
Lastly, this phone will work with Tracfone Promo Codes! Unlike the Android smartphones Tracfone offers.
Now for a few dislikes.
LG 306G Dislikes
This phone is a pretty solid device that doesn't seem to have any big dislikes, but also doesn't really 'wow' in any areas either.
The lack of a main operating system like Android is a little disappointing. With Android OS you have access to thousands of apps. With the LG 306G, there are apps available, but not as many. We would recommend Opera Mini, which is a great app for browsing the internet.
The LG 306G isn't a new phone, even though it is new to Tracfone. So don't expect too much from it. There are a variety of quirks, such as the phone switching to landscape mode for texting, but if you don't mind things like this it is a good option.
The 2MP camera is not great, but that is to be expected for a phone like this.
If you find any problems with your LG 306G, let us know in the comments so we can mention them here.
Also, if you want more information, be sure to check out the full user guide linked below.
Overview and Buying Options for the LG 306G
Overall, the LG 306G is similar to the LG 840G, which isn't a bad thing, unless you are looking to upgrade from the LG 840G (in which case we would suggest a smartphone like the LG Optimus Dynamic II).LG 306G |
The LG 306G is a simple, durable phone that will get the job done and won't be as bulky as most smartphones. It is a great choice for people who want something at a reasonable price, and don't need all the latest features. Overall, we like this phone. It isn't too fancy, but works well and has most of the features you would need for a cell phone.
For Tracfone customers, this is a pretty standard Tracfone device, and would make a good upgrade if you have an older phone, especially if you only have double minutes for life.
Where to find the LG 306G from Tracfone
You can find the LG 306G on the Tracfone website, currently selling for $50.
Dollar General among other stores is also selling this phone usually for a bit less.
There are sometimes some great bundles with this phone on HSN.com or ShopHQ.com.
We have also found the LG 306G on Amazon for less than $40.

What games does it come with? Are they demo/trial games or full games?
ReplyDeleteMy Tracfone didn't come with any games at all
Deletemine came with tetris demo and bejeweled and another but dont remember
DeleteCan you give me the link to the lg306g on tracfone.com?
ReplyDeleteCan you make a quiz for people to take to help them decide which tracfone to get?
ReplyDeletewould you recommend this phone over the LG 840G for $19.99 or to get the LG 306G for $39.99
ReplyDeleteThey are both fairly similar phones, so if the LG 840G is significantly cheaper, it might be the better option.
Deletethanks
DeleteYou can get the lg306g for 19.99 at kmart... or is it 29.99?...
DeleteCVS has it on sale for $9.99 but that probably won't last for long.
DeleteI bought mine from Safeway for $9.99. It really works great and you can't beat the price.
DeleteI am having problems with people hearing me on my LG306G. I do not have a problem hearing them. Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions? I did check the zip code area prior to purchasing. People that I talk with say that is sounds like I am in a tunnel. I am thinking of returning the phone (still under 30 day warranty).
ReplyDeleteThanks
K
Having the same problem. Any help would be appreciated. Russ.
DeleteHaving the same problem. I have to turn the phone on its side ala Star Trek communicator in order to be heard. I also inadvertently disconnected my calls when my left index finger hit the on/off button while I was on the phone. Very disturbing.
DeleteSame problem and it drops calls or says no service. No other phone Ive had did this, not happy here.
DeletePurchased mine in Sept., took a trip through the mountains of NC,
Deleteservice was perfect and no problem with hearing people or them hearing me. My sister's expensive phone could not get service several different times. No complaints. Does anyone know if this phone has voice texting capabilities??? I thought it was advertised that it did.
Help!
I have the same problem making it sound like you're talking in a tunnel and when that happens when people are talking with speakerphone on at times you will hear the same thing that I am hearing as well if you are talking to someone maybe you can ask him to shut off your speaker phone to be able to hear without the tunnel being in you Ear. I hope this works for you if not you'll have to keep searching this is all I have for you good luck and merry Christmas to all
DeleteMy husband had the problem with people hearing him on his LG840G, but it recently died. He could either hear or be heard but has to shift the phone back and forth between his mouth and his ear. Your comment makes me think we should look for another style phone for a replacement rather than this similar model. Thanks, Diane
ReplyDeleteGood to see Tracfone still supporting the Java platform. :)
ReplyDeleteIs there software to sync my PC & lg306G like PC Studio for my older Samsung 390G I just switched to the lg306g. I need to transfer my address book; too many entries to manually add! I loved the 390G only one problem it was sometimes hard to connect to wi-fi (yes good signal as my tablet no problem) and I never could get it to connect to my secure network at home as my password was toooo long to enter & my hubby refused to shorten the password :(.
DeleteTo transfer contacts, its easier if you link the two phones via Bluetooth, then go to Address Book>MENU>Send Contact Info>Bluetooth>Select All>Send. They will all go at once. The new phone will have to accept the vcard. Your menus may vary, but this way is for sure the fastest way to send mass contacts. Some wifi devices have a quick setup button (NOT the reset) which you can use to connect devices without a password at all. Also, if your husband is truly fastidious about security, then tell him he should secure via MAC address and even an average password will have MUCH more security then, then add all your devices, find the MAC address of the added devices, then add them to the access list in the router. He will know how to do this if he reads the manual.
DeleteWhat stores sell the lg306g?
ReplyDeleteI just bought mine at Best Buy for $29.95 +/-. It wasn't on sale, that was the price printed on the box.
DeleteWalmart for $9.98 + tax.
DeleteInstagram???
ReplyDeleteWhere do I find a case for this phone?
ReplyDeleteWalmart has some
Deleteamazon.com has all kind of accessories for this phone,,,i just got a case,,but it is kinda hard to get phone out of when it rings
DeleteI got a Dollar Store cover for $1 and it covers the glass side only by snapping on (it is flexible). The cover is slightly longer than the phone but at least it protects the glass touchscreen.
DeleteI can't find a case for this phone either! Any help??
ReplyDeleteI have looked every where for a case for this phone. No luck. I have even tried to find a phone of the same size so I could try that case. No luck... Any one find a case please post
DeleteNo I am having same issue. Phone is so slippery too. I took a silicone mobile case cut out a piece to fit the back (cutting out for the camera too) and super glued it to the back so it won't side areas sitting on my car dash. It's not pretty but it works
DeleteThe silicone jelly by HE Wireless for the LG840G works well for $4 or under on Amazon!
DeleteI have not been able to find one either. I will try looking for ^ that, thanks!
DeleteI am just starting a new business. Does this phone work with the "Square" payment system for credit cards?
ReplyDeleteNo u need a smart phone not sure if any tracfone smartphones have the feature to allow they sprinkle all features down on their phones
Deletetill 6-7/2014 CVS has on sale TracFone LG 306G for $30 I think,,
ReplyDeleteGames?
ReplyDeleteThe LG 306G isn't a new phone, even though it is new to Tracfone. So don't expect too much from it. There are a variety of quirks, such as the phone switching to landscape mode for texting, but if you don't mind things like this it is a good option
ReplyDeleteIf your gonna state this, then you need to include the Cell Network name, and the name/model of the phone on that network. I've seen dozens of posts online where ppl are trying to find a skin/cover for this phone. It would be very helpful if ppl knew what Tracfone renamed this phone from so they CAN buy a skin/cover for it. Throw us a bone here!
this model lg 306g isn't even listed on LG's website....
DeleteJust purchased it tonight at CVS. It was $30. But it came with a Free Gas card for $30. Essentally a free phone and came with triple minuted as long as kept active. I don't need a phone for web surfing. But occasional use is good for needs. God point that one buckets fills phone, text, and data. Hope the connection is good from what I have read here of the problems. Never have used AT&T before--and have not heard raves about it.. but my needs are simple. Merely looking for a decently serviceable phone at a modet cost. We shall see how well this meets the criteria.
ReplyDeleteIs it possible to turn off that annoying voice that tells you what you just touched. It doesn't talk to you in "vibrate" mode, but I'd like to turn the voice off when it's in "ring mode".
ReplyDeleteGo to settings hit accessibility turn off menu readout and dial readout
DeleteThank you so much, this was helpful for my friend.
DeleteYes, select settings then accessibility turn off menu readout. Come on guys, You do need to employer your phone it's not going to bite you
DeleteSooooooo happy to finally find the answer. Thank you so much!
DeleteOMG thank god i finally found this i just got mine today for 20 bucks was on sale at dollar store and i love it but i am kinda upset cuz the add i found it shows a pink phone but its all good i love it ever since i brought it home and started playing with it she would say this or that and i told the person i live with i am doing some research on it cuz shes already annoying me lol :) thanks very much guys now i dont have to listen to her
DeleteTHANK GOD!!!!! I was going CRAZY with that narration....couldn't figure out how to turn that darn thing off!!!!!!!
DeleteThanks from me, too! It was so annoying.
DeleteHallelujah! I was about to go back to my old phone - the talking was driving me crazy.
DeleteJust got my phone and that was the worst thing about it. Thanks for the info
Deletethanks for the info, Im not use to touch screen and it was driving me bonkers. Hope I learn this phone fast. I guess an old dog can learn new tricks.
DeleteI try going to accessibility but the phone won’t let me turn off menu readout does anybody else have this problem.
DeleteIn reply to anonymous.....I can't find a case either..anywhere. Unless the 840g case might work,
ReplyDeleteCome on, PETER...any ideas????
Thanks.
No luck for me yet. There should be cases showing up soon. The closest I've found is a leather belt clip that looks alright.
Deletehttp://www.amazon.com/Leather-Sideways-Pouch-Magnetic-Closure/dp/B00KFULR4I
I found one for my husband's lg306g on Ebay
DeleteWe found one at Walmart..Torque Case by Body Glove. It was about 18.00, and can be worn vertically or horizontally. It has a smidge of space left over, says it's for large smartphones. Anyway, it does the trick for us.
DeleteYou can get a generic case at Target...
DeleteI sent a text to LG asking them what their eqivalent model number is for the LG306G. That is tracfone's model and LG usually has another model number that will help in getting a cover. They replied that the equivalent is an LG 306G. Well, duh, thanks for that info.
DeleteWalmart has one with a velcro closure, to answer the call you have to push the phone up from the bottom which is a pain but you never disconnect the call which I have done many times.
DeleteI can't get mine to receive texts, I can send them, my friends get them, but I get none in return. Am I missing something?
ReplyDeletego to the Tracfone website ( www.tracfone.com ) and click on support on the website page. or send feedback to the Tracfone company to see what's wrong. your cellphone that you purchased might be faulty. if you want you can go to a cellphone shop and ask for assistance. make sure you have your receipt so you can take the item back if it is a faulty device.
DeleteThanks,Peter..I'll try that Amazon clip in the meantime, And in response to Anonymous there are no available covers as of today 6-12-14..you must have found a generic one!
ReplyDeletewell, I know this isn't a smartphone....BUT....my husband wants to get away from the flip phone, uses 3 minutes a month to talk, and does about 5 texts a month....what do you all think as a first phone for him? I have a smartphone, and love it....anyone recommend a particular model for me? I REALLY want it to have a flash....don't see to many of those. Also, what IS your opinion on using tracfone in the long run...don't know anyone who has it.
ReplyDeleteI've used TracFone for years, and the phone service is very good IMO. Dealing with a live human being in their customer service dept. is not the greatest sometimes. Of course, like all cellphone service, it can depend on the area you're in.
Delete"The lack of a main operating system like Android is a little disappointing. With Android OS you have access to thousands of apps." You can have Android and it's spy apps. I currently have an Android TracFone and I'm fed up with all of the app permissions each app wants. I value my privacy over convenience and the "wow" factor. I'm going back to a feature phone or less.
DeleteI'm getting this cellphone on June 1st at Dollar General it only costs $29.00 its way cheaper than actually buying it online at the Tracfone website. It seems like a nice cellphone to me. very excited to purchase this item. can't wait!
ReplyDeleteI'm considering upgrading from a non-smart Trac fone (with only texts and talk) to this one. How does the use of data factor into the minutes? Like with texts it's 0.3 minutes per text. Is it 1 MB of data per minute or something like that? Also, if I am only checking e-mails periodically and not downloading the big ones, it seems like 1 MB of data would go a long way. Does it keep track of data usage continuously and only deduct 1 minute every time you roll over another MB? Or if I check my e-mail 10 times a day, but only download 10KB of e-mails each time, will I get docked 10 minutes? Thanks for the help!
ReplyDeleteI answered my own question - got this phone today. It appears the phone keeps track of data and charges you 1 minute for each MB, and fractions of minutes (down to the 1,000th of a minute) for each KB of data transferred. From my first few minutes of playing with this phone, it seems like a great deal! (At $20 on Amazon)
ReplyDeleteCharge is 0.5 min per 100K of data. There is also a 0.50 min MMS service charge. This is similar to the other Tracfone 3G phones, but only 1/3rd the cost. Reason why I upgraded from the LG840G. Really makes data use practical.
Deletei love this phone its perfect for my eleven year old daughter it has easy plans for her and my 14 year old daughter
ReplyDeletecan i transfer minutes from my current tracfone to this model?
ReplyDeleteYes. I just upgraded yesterday to this phone. I did it online to make sure my minutes transferred. This was for my husband. We have used tracfone for many years. I have smartphone, but he had his old flip phone for 10 years. His problem is when he scrolls contacts he calles them by mistake. Is there any way I can adjust sensitivity?
Deleteyes you can, tracfone will help you on the phone
DeleteYou cannot transfer minutes from any of TracFone's Android models. Another reason not to get an Android phone if you use TracFone service.
DeleteMy kids have real simple lg tracfones, with qwerty keypads. Their complaint, now that they are actually starting to text friends is they don't get to see the whole conversation. Would this lg306 show the whole conversation like what I see on my iPhone?
ReplyDeleteAccording to the Tracfone website you can.
ReplyDeleteYES....make sure when you upgrade your phone to do it online. I had a HORRIBLE time trying to get alllll of my minutes from the tech when I did it online. I rarely use my phone so I had over 12,000 minutes. I kept asking for supervisors and then "their" supervisors before I got my minutes back. I will NEVER do that again. It's minutes I have paid for....I have no clue why they act like they are "giving" them away.
ReplyDeleteI am thinking of getting a lg306g anybody know if it uses double minutes when I am way out of my area like 1300 miles as I am that far for months at a time ?
ReplyDeleteIt is a triple minute phone.
DeleteThere is no roaming charge. Has been that way a long time. No service outside the USA.
DeleteNo roaming with the lg306g.
ReplyDeletehttps://www.tracfone.com/direct/controller.block?__blockname=direct.static.terms
"Feature Phones: TracFone airtime is issued in unit increments. All calls are charged at a rate of one (1) unit per minute. With some older TRACFONE models, roaming calls (refer to the Roaming Section of these Terms) are charged at the rate of two (2) units per minute. There is no additional charge for nationwide long distance or for international long distance to countries designated at tracfone.com. The rate to send or receive a text message varies by TRACFONE model and is disclosed on your TRACFONE package. For most feature phones, the rate to send or open a text message is 0.3 units."
I don't see anywhere that it says there is no roaming with the LG 306g. Where do you see this?
DeleteIs there a calendar on this phone?
ReplyDeleteYes, just hit the button on far right bottom of home screen that it to right of small message envelope. This is your app button.
DeleteMy lg306g doesn't identify the text messenger's number or name until I view the message. I would like to screen my messages - Any tips?
ReplyDeleteI receive text messages that appear in my inbox as "New Message". When I view the message and have minutes deducted, I am only shown the number of the sender. After I close the viewer the inbox finally shows the sender's name.
DeleteAccording to a Net10 tech chat - The lg306g is programmed to never identify incoming text messages. Anyone with an axe to grind can send you endless streams of spam to burn your minutes because there is no way for you to know who is sending the messages.
Although I like almost all aspects of this phone - I will have to consider returning it for another. I asked the NET10 tech guy if there is a database that identifies this shortcoming with other phones they offer, but I guess there is no way to know until you buy and try the phone.
Jings and crivvens, help ma boah.
With this phone I hit ignore then go into the inbox. Can see first 6 characters of message. That is enough to see if it is someone I know or a garbage text. Don't even open the weather alerts - can see what they say with that few characters.
DeleteThe silicone jelly by HE Wireless for the LG840G works well for $4 on Amazon!
ReplyDeletedo any Tracfones work with the square payment system?
ReplyDeletePublic wi-fi does not connect. My secure wi-fi at home connects but not free wi-fi at my job. Wi-fi works perfectly on other devices just not this phone. phone will not connect with e-mail. E-mail setup is correct, just won't connect.
ReplyDeleteWHICH phone are you talking about, that won't connect to wi-fi ??
DeleteHelp...having same issues. This is second LG 306G from Tracfone....could not connect away from home to WIFI and not getting emails anywhere!!! They said 1st phone was defective.....replacement phone doing the same thing. And I use AT&T internet service at home.
DeleteI am having a problem receiving or sending email, or getting anything on the Browser. I have only had the phone a few days. Aslo the Bluetooth doesn't work. We are going to the car dealership (Ford) to have an update on Bluetooth. Hope that will work. Is it just the operator?
DeleteI didn't think the Bluetooth worked either but found that it was checked hidden. Once i removed the check mark it worked.
Delete2 questions.
ReplyDelete1. Does the LG306 effectively receive MMS text messages? My LG800 sometimes receives MMS messages. Other times it doesn't, but I still get charge 1.5 minutes for them.
2. For sent SMS text messages, does the LG306 charge 0.3 of a minute? or 0.5 of a minute? (I thought I read somewhere it was 0.5)
Text messages only come with phone number so unless you memorize all your contact phone numbers, you have no idea who is sending you texts. It only shows text from phone number not contact, a major bummer
ReplyDeletesome of my contacts will show the saved name and not the number at the top of the message after opening it and some just show the number. How can I change this?
DeleteThe LG306G is advertised as having 5 different screens, and the LG840G I have now has 3 different screens. Can someone tell me what's on the other 2 on the lg306g ??
ReplyDeleteAlso on another forum, I read that the data rate is cheaper on the lg306g than on the lg840g which eats up your time when used for data...
Qvc has it today for $72 with 1500 minutes included, chargers and 3 months to pay +30 day trial!!!
ReplyDeleteJust received mine through the same sale. First time cell user and plan limited use. This was advertised w/GPS capability. Are you familiar with this?, also what is your opinion overall? Thank you.
DeleteIf you want a phone with GPS navigation capabilities, DO NOT buy the LG 306G. The only way you can use the GPS connectivity in this phone is to commit a felony in the presence of witnesses, in which case a nice police officer will come immediately and tell you where you are and where you are going (to jail)! It IS NOT a GPS capable phone, UNLESS you WANT big brother looking over your shoulder every moment of the day.
DeleteWhen on Facebook, if I want to comment it only has the number keypad. I need to know how to change it to keyboard. When I text, it's the keyboard but not on Facebook. HELP
ReplyDeleteWhen I tried to buy the Tetris game it says authentication failed. What does that mean? Also the weather will not load and is so tiny you can't read it anyway. HELP
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to buy Tetris and Bejeweled, but always got the authentication failed. However as of this afternoon I was able to buy Bejeweled. Probably I could get Tetris also.
DeleteSecond update: I was a little surprised to see that Bejeweled (from the Tracfone website) was unsigned, and that it did not replace the Bejeweled demo from the list of apps.
DeleteI just bought one at Fred Meyer for $19.99 before tax as a Net10 phone.
ReplyDeleteSo, this works with the old cards such as the $30 for 300 minutes and 60 days?
LG306G - How can I delete my web URL/web browsing history?
ReplyDeletego to settings, then to accessibility and turn off menu readout and dial readout. hope this helps. I asked a question on here and never got a reply :)
ReplyDeleteI am having trouble downloading my phonebook to my car. anyone have an answer?
ReplyDeletehow do download music on the lg306g from a pc?
ReplyDeleteYou could download the music via Bluetooth. There are place on the web that will explain how its done. However, if I wanted to put music on my lg306g I would remove the 4gb SD card that comes with the LG306g, and put the SD card in the PC, copy the music to the SD card then put the SD card back into the LG306g.
DeleteI just plugged it into my computer and copied the music over that I wanted like it was another hard drive. Moving around the SD card sounds like a pain.
Deletei still cant save yahoo as my homepage
DeletePurchased from QVC earlier this month. First time mobile cell phone user. Was able to sync to my car. Phone was advertised as having GPS capability, which was a major reason for purchase. Must I download an app?, If so does anyone have a suggestion for the most favorable? Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThe lg306g is not a true smartphone. It uses java software unlike a true smartphone which uses android software. I do not believe there is real GPS java software available. For several years now all US cell phones must be GPS capable. There is a chip inside the cell phone can determine within a few feet where the cell phone is. If you happen to call 911 and pass-out responders can locate you. BTW....if you do a no-no the police,FBI..etc.......can find you
DeleteCorrect, the LG306Gis not a smart phone, but it also does NOT contain a GPS chip, nor does the LG840G or the LG900G or the Samsung S390G.
DeleteU.S. cell phones are NOT required to be GPS equipped, so please do NOT post incorrect information regarding these tracfones!
Thanks.
I'm interested in this issue but may be confused. So, when you say this phone does NOT contain a GPS chip, does that mean it can not be located if you call 911----or if police, FBI, etc want to find you?
DeleteYou should ask LG. We had a very basic Tracfone a few years ago & when I accidentally dialed 911 the 911 operator wanted to know my location so they could see if their GPS locating was working. They knew right where I was which was a remote location.
DeleteUsing cell site data, they can come relatively close to your actual location. Within 500' or so but the phone does not transmit a true lat/longitude fix for location purposes, and is not user programmable.
DeleteWhenever I receive a call on my lg306g the phone rings softly and gets louder and louder with each ring. How can I set the lg306g to ring at the same volume lever every time.
ReplyDeleteIf you look in the ringer settings you will find an answer.
DeleteMy email app does not work properly. I have a Hotmail account. It will send but not receive emails. When updating it response is "System Error". Is there a setting that needs to be changed from the factory settings? Is anyone else having this problem?
ReplyDeleteI HATE the keyboard/number pad combo with 3 or 4 letters to navigate thru while entering text. Is there a way to install a normal keybord layout?
ReplyDeletewhere can I purchase 2 phone protective cases for LG306G
ReplyDeleteJust got the tracfone 306G, as someone who's a dinosaur in the teckie age, I don't have any problems figuring the phone out. I'm happy with the way it works, but really bummed about not finding ANY covers or "skins"? for it. I've tried everywhere. Kinda wishing I'd checked this out first, as I'd loved to have glitzed it up ! Boring black stinks!
ReplyDeleteLook at it this way, Black will keep it from being a target from thieves! Glitz will make it easier to spot, so ask yourself if you want to keep it??
DeleteBe happy, they failed to transfer my number after I went througfh it 5 times. I hate dealing with these voice robgots to get a simple problem fixed. Learn to love black.
DeleteI recently purchased an LG 306G. How do you download a picture received through Messaging on it? I cannot find anything on the phone itself, nor in the service guide.
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem..
DeleteHow do you send pictures from my lg 306g to my computer , can not find any instructions on how to and there is nothing on the phone that shows or indicates what is refered to as mms .
ReplyDeleteI use bluetooth on my LG840G
DeleteI got one and Its wifi appears to be defective
ReplyDeleteIt could be mine works fine?
Deletethanks so much, it takes a genious techy to figure some of this stuff out. They also failed to transfer my number and now they can not find it.
ReplyDeleteI bought this phone to replace one that died four days out of warranty. After going through activation on the phone five times, they still failed to transfer my old number. they assigned me a new one which I did not agree to. Now where do I go with all my family and friends not being able to reach me. My old number is also lost in their system they tell me when I try to dial it. This kind of stuff sucks bad as I try to fix the problem using my whole day;.
ReplyDeleteI have had my LG306G for about a month and love it. The only issue I have is it only rings twice before going to voice mail. As it is a bit hard to answer, (my answer button takes several swipes, pokes, etc.), I never get a call that I do not have to call back. Can I adjust the rings before going to VM?
ReplyDeleteOk, after reading all the posts, is there a common problem with folks being able to hear the one talking?
ReplyDeleteI have had my LG306G about a month and love it. My one issue is, the phone only rings twice before going to VM. Is there anyway I can adjust that?
ReplyDeleteLike the phone and am having a hard time finding a case for it. Found it on QVC, which includes the phone but I don't need that. Any ideas where I can find a case?
ReplyDeleteThe silicone jelly by HE Wireless for the LG840G works well for $4 or under on Amazon!
DeleteWhen dialing a number, I put the phone on speaker so I can focus on driving and having LOTS of volume. The phone IMMEDIATELY goes to a black screen and the speaker phone reverts to non - speaker phone mode. Once the screen is BLACK, I CANNOT switch it back to speaker phone without hanging up and then it does it again and again and GRRRRRRRR !
ReplyDeletedon't do that while driving
DeleteDoes anyone know a SOURCE for a case for the LG306G please??
ReplyDeleteThe silicone jelly by HE Wireless for the LG840G works well for $4 or under on Amazon!
DeleteThis phone is on sale at dollar General right now for $19.99.
ReplyDeleteI am also having problems with the screen going black everytime I receive or make a call. Haven't been able to find a solution.
ReplyDeleteDo U have it in a plastic holder? (clear) Do U have a protective plastic screen saver on the screen?
DeleteThe phone as most have a sensor on the very top of the front, if a call comes in or is made with this stuff on the screen it will sense as if its on your ear and go blank.
Remove it from the holder, or remove the plastic screen protector, OR find where the sensor is located and cut out a small area to uncover it.
Thank you. I removed the plastic screen saver when I received the phone. I removed the case and put it back on. Also, I wiped off the top of the phone. Hopefully, this will help. Thanks for the info.
DeleteQVC has the LG 306G with 1500 minutes/one year of service, Protection Plan and free shipping for $79.99 plus taxes. That's less than the 1200 minute card alone.
ReplyDeleteI just bought one.

The coverage for this phone is terrible. Most of my house, even by the windows, is a dead zone. I have to go outside to get any service. I've never had this much trouble with any of my other tracfones.
ReplyDeleteI called my sister in IN from my living room today, no problem, she called me back and no problem there either.
DeleteThe 'G" model uses AT&T, the "C" model uses Verizon, I use the G, I don't know how the Verizon model would work here.
I managed to re add my contacts, you have to move the screen ever so slightly over and than add some more, it only moves side to side not up and down like on the 840. I still can't see any way to move the contact icons around like on the 840 to set them in the sequence as I want, they just get placed as you select them, all you can do is delete or add.
ReplyDeleteI been re adding all my contacts all day I still have to add my email settings, it gets me that there's no way to transfer all that, per the TF rep, its only able to do that with Android phones.
I could have sworn I seen something that this thing was able to do that gravity thing, where it changed when you tilted the screen. The screen is the same size as the 840G. but seems a bit wider. That top bar where the apps drop down is also gone.
Well, I'll mess around with it some more, if i get bored I'll just sell it lol, I got it for 8 bucks so its no big loss :), But I'll hang on to my 840 too since its already set up and workin.
I just wasn't ready to go for a "smartphone" I don't use these things much and when I do its mainly for what its main purpose was made for "make calls", so I can't justify the cost of one yet. But I'm learnin more every day about these things :)
I assume when I do go with an android OS smartphone, I'll end up having to re do everything again too.
Edit...
ReplyDeleteOK just activated the thing and transferred my time and number to it, I had 94min till Nov 15th, after transferring I ended up with 120, till Jan 15th 2015 So I guess they added a small amount.
Although the 840g is now showing inactive sim, everything else still works, and is still setup with all my contacts, music and pictures, I just copied what I could (pics and music only) to the 306g and spent all night re entering my contacts and setting up each pic on screen for each one. Also after transferring my music, I still had to re make all my custom play lists again, the folders transferred OK, but no playlists were picked up containing the tunes I had setup.
Other than all that, its back to the usual. Its mainly just a "phone", MP3 player. and occasional text message for which it works as advertised :). Email accounts also had to be re entered.
BTW have a question on the point that it says "gravity sensor" in thespecs above.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen this thing do it at all, I have to turn the phone to landscape myself just as with the 840G.
You or anybody have any other luck? and if so how do you get it to do that, if it can.
Here s a site for some java based games, it shows the 840g, but they will play in the 306 as well I got one of the Angry Birds games and it plays OK, just the one I got at times gives me an out of memory error, you just exit the game and re start. It took me a bit to get to level 4 LOLOL.(look for the one that's 2mg+)
ReplyDeletehttp://www.umnet.com/phone/6592-lg_840g
Found another thing, that tool bar that shows on top of the 840Gjust under the top bar, looks missing on the 306G, BUT, today I was sliding my thumb up and down and guess what, that same info shows up as a pull down now :) lol always something new to find lol.
ReplyDeleteWhen transferring mp3's from my pc to my phone, I can't get the artist and album tags to show up. All the songs/albums are transferred over and the song titles and track number are visible but the artist and album information don't show up. I'm old school and like to listen to whole albums but can't because of this. How do I get the tag information to show up on the phone? I've transferred music by usb cable and by putting the memory card into the pc but I get the same result with both methods.
ReplyDeleteDono just what you want to do, but from what I found transferring my stuff from my 840G to this 306G was that ONLY that stuff transferred, nothing like I had set up my stuff either, i had to go back and spend all night re entering stuff like email accounts, contacts, and all the screen settings, nothing transferred over but the picture files and my music mp'3's
DeleteThe music files I had setup on SD were separated into folders I named to correspond to the type of music, none of that was there, ONLY the full list of MP3's, I had to re make each playlist folder again and move the tunes around to each one like I had it setup on the 840. I called trackphone on this too, and asked if there was some master file I could move to the new phone so ALL my settings and stuff looked the same, they said there wasn't, only "Android OS" ie smartphones were able to.
Anyway it took me a while to re enter my stuff, but its all back to normal on the 306 now :)
Hoody, couldnt you transfer(at least) your contacts via bluetooth??
Deletewell to tell the truth, I never even thought of that, I only had the 840 a few months before getting this one, cause it was soooo cheap :), and that (the 840g) was my 1st cell phone, so I wasn't clear or aware of even trying that, but I know more now lol, so if/when I ever decide to go Android, I will definitely look into that feature.
DeleteI have a question..... if I want to save a text message, my phone says "copy to sim" or "move to sim". if I move my test or copy to text, how do I retrieve it??
ReplyDeleteso far after 5 days with this 306G I am a bit happier with it :), did finally get Yahoo email to work this morning, the other 2 I use worked as soon as I entered the info.
ReplyDeleteI picked up this thing for 8 bucks :) its why I went with it, other wise I'd have just kept using the "square" thing lolol.
yeah, the screen may be the same size, but when I looked at them side by side the 306 somehow makes things look bigger. Also I found that tool bar on the 840 is still there on the 306, you just use the thumb to pull it down now, kinda cool :)
installed 3 different Angry Birds (jme) games, and am gettin hooked on that :) , they play really well considerin the limited ram.
I really wanted to see that gravity sensor work though, oh well.....
all in all its a pretty cool phone for being non Android and semi-smart :)
I just picked up the LG 306G. When entering "contacts", is there a way to keep the input method on "keyboard" or do I have change the setting for each new contact?
ReplyDeleteI'm curious about something to do with this blue tooth, I got it to pair with my laptop, but it keeps sayin "only connect to headset"? so does that mean it will ONLY connect to some ear type thing? why would it pair and be connected to my laptop?.
ReplyDeleteIt also says it can print, how is this done? I have a wifi printer but even turned on it doesn't want to find it.
When replying to a text my phone switches to MMS mode instead of staying in SMS mode costing me and my recipient to use more minutes each time.
ReplyDeleteThe only way I've found to get around that is to start a new message each time instead of hitting reply.
Can I change my phone settings to show the name instead of the telephone number when receiving a text message?
ReplyDeleteHi all, Will someone please inform me as to how much does the text messaging feature cost/deduct from this phone, is it: 0.3 or 0.5 to send, and is it: 0.3 or 0.5 to receive ?? Thanks Very Much in advance for anyone's reply !!
ReplyDeleteI was speaking w/ a phone rep a couple weeks ago and she told me it was 1 minute for either.
DeleteIt's 0.30 both ways
ReplyDeleteHow do you reset the time on the LG 360G? We just had a time change with DayLight savings time, and my phone did not automatically change. The other tracfones I've had
ReplyDeletedid change . Can anyone help me?
I just turned mine off and re started it, that fixed it.
DeleteThanks for the solution. It worked for me, too.
DeleteJES,,,my phone's clock will not chage over from daylight saving time,,,,time stays the same after nov 1st,,,,,and you can not manulely change the clock,,,,book says you can click on setting then the clock button but after that there is nothing to choose from to set the time or date for the corect time or date , any ideas whats wrong or are these phones all like this,,,,,,,,thanks james
ReplyDeleteMy LG306 Tracfone has service signal but keeps saying No SERVICE. The customer service rep says they are selling some phones with SIM cards that limit your towers. So if you are not living in a metro area and have this problem, contact Tracfone cust service and ask for new phone/sim card. Frustrating since you pay $ and expect it to work immediately. Mine works for 5 miles on the interstate but not in town. I should get my new parts this week.
ReplyDeleteSeems strange to see new posts on this phone, but good to see people are still using it, while everybody ran to the 34c, and now going nuts over the 41c (ult2) LOL
ReplyDeleteI actually got this one 306g cause it was on sale one time on ebay for 7.99, I had the 840g which was OK for me, but figured what the hell, 8 bucks.....
I found that even though this has the same screen size, and pretty much the same features as the 840g has, it still looks like a bigger screen for some reason. I also got used to the way its setup with the 3 sceens that are now alltogether, it actually works better as I can now list a lot more contacts on screen.
I now have my 840g sitting in a box unused, and since I hardly use a cell at all this 306G isn't getting much use either, but its at least looked at daily lol, as I do use the MP3 player. I have been trying to edumacate myself on the "smartphones" and have pretty much narrowed things down now as to what one should be looking for, one day I may decide to go Android, and by than I should know what I want/need. I like that 41c, but will hold up on the frenzy, will see if the Volt makes it to TF.
Other than that I have no real issues with this 306G, it works.... WIFI BT, email, and all. :)
Only thing I found that doesn't work is this Gravity Sensor (tilt sensor), they have listed in the features/specs.
ReplyDeleteYeah Some you tube stuff plays in landscape mode but that's nott "tilt sensor"
I was looking for a tilt effect on anything when I "tilted" the phone.
No sweat, its a small screen so its not all that important on this.
Just bought the L34C from Sears for that 10 buck deal, so will be trying out my first smartphone :)
Deletehow do I keep the phone from turning off after 60 seconds?
ReplyDeleteGot mine today for $9.99,really good for a $10 phone!
ReplyDeleteCan I download Google Play? Or access another app store without activating the phone? I only want to use the WiFi on the phone. I do not want to add minutes. I have used many other prepaid smartphones this way. I usually access WiFi at home to download apps that do not require an internet connection. Basically acts as a cheap tablet for younger kids.
ReplyDeletethis ain't a "smartphone" like the usual Android OS cells, this is a JAVA based OS, it won't be able to use those apps on Google Play Store.
DeleteYou need to look for stuff for "JAVA" Here is a link for some stuff, but its not like the apps for Android.

This is the 306G forum, so I assume you mean that phone, if your talkin bout the L34C thats another story and another forum,
Deletebut IF you mean the 34, than yeah you can do everything with it as usual except make calls, as you won't have your number,
BUT you can dial the phone, it just says it takes you to a Verizon operator, and you would have to use a CC and pay for your call like a phone booth.
Is there any way to upload whatsapp on my phone Lg306.? Please ket me know how
DeleteMy LG306G will not hold camera setting. Can anyone help. I have tried everything i know, nothing works. My friends can't fix it either.
ReplyDeleteHow do I introduce my own ringtone to the 306G?
ReplyDeleteClick the sounds icon looks like a speaker, select sounds, select ring tones, press the item listed and it should bring up your list of sounds.
DeleteIf you want your own, transfer the MP3 sound to your "audio" folder using the USB cable via your computer, than you can find that to use.
How do I lock the phone?
ReplyDeleteThis phone is $9.99 at Walmart even Walmart.com. PLEASE don't pay $50!
ReplyDeleteI was setting up multiple calendar events and then the phone started rebooting every time I pressed the calendar app. Now the the pwr on key will only start it up and when it does, it just goes into a continuous reboot Also, phone won't let me clear or reset prior to this issue. the phone passcode had a hint that said zeroxthree. I never set the passcode on the phone. This is the worst phone and does the strangest things. My wife and son are in the Philippines and this phone is my only way of communication. If I can't get this phone working, what phone can i get that uses NET10 which will use the SIMM card so that I can get my contacts off it - very important
ReplyDeleteIt seems there is no way to copy & paste text from a text file, or to edit notes created in the notes app. I've been trying to copy a long sequence of random characters (a WiFi password) from an uploaded txt file, and enter it as the password for a WiFi connection, to no avail. Seems it cannot be done! Any suggestions?
ReplyDeleteHi..I purchase the lg 306g Box At dg for $30. My only question is. It has an activation card. What do I get free when I activate. Min. Service?
DeleteI just got this phone for $10.00 bucks at Wal-mart as I'm switching from an old flip style phone that I'm giving to my elderly mother. I have a tablet and I have an ipod so I really didn't need all souped up stuff that comes with an Android phone. I'm impressed with this little phone as I does pretty much everything that I need and want it to. I have my email set up, contacts all in, texted a few messages (and I'm not a texting fanatic) and I've played with all the different features including bluetooth connecting to my laptop but I can't get it to do anything like transfer files and such. Anyhow, my biggest gripe with this phone is the web browser. I can't seem to log into any of my various accounts like Dropbox on the web as the stupid "sign in" button will not work. It won't work with my bank either. I hit the button, with my correct sign in information, and I hit the button, but it just wont do anything at all. I tried to connect to the wifi at Starbucks and I keep hitting the agree button on the their website but nothing happens. I guess there's a flaw somewhere in there.
ReplyDeleteWe purchased this phone for our son for Christmas. We can not get the phone to connect to our password protected wi-fi. We have changed a few settings on our router, still nothing. Is this normal or a phone flaw?
ReplyDeleteThis should connect just as easily as a tablet or other device. I connected to mine without any issues.
DeleteI have thelg306 how do you turn off the talking lady
