Samsung Galaxy Stardust Specs and Features with Tracfone
We will share the latest news, features and details for the Samsung Galaxy Stardust (S766C) below, and continue to update as we get more information about this new Android Tracfone device.Tracfone Samsung Galaxy Stardust S766c |
Tracfone now has more than ten Android powered smartphones that can be used on their prepaid service. They continue to release new phones which are for use exclusively on their prepaid service, as well as allow more phones for use on the Tracfone BYOP service. For more details on BYOP, follow the link to our page.
At the end of 2014, Tracfone released three new phones with the best specs and features yet, they were the Alcatel Onetouch Icon Pop, Moto E, and LG Ultimate 2. These phones each had screens larger than 4", good processors, and other good specifications.
The Galaxy Stardust will run on CDMA towers through Verizon service, which is the same of all of Tracfone's smartphones at this time. For more about CDMA, and if an Android phone will work for you, visit out CDMA vs GSM Comparison.
But how does the Samsung Galaxy Stardust stack up with Tracfone's other offerings? We'll answer this once we review the full list of features and product specifications.
Samsung Galaxy Stardust Features and Specifications
Try not to get the Samsung Galaxy Stardust confused with the Samsung Galaxy Ace Style, they are very similar, but looking at the specs we see some differences:Samsung Galaxy Stardust Feature List
- Android 4.3 Jelly Bean
- 3G Connectivity through Verizon Towers
- WiFi
- GPS
- Bluetooth 4.0
- Triple Minutes for Life with minutes split into Talk/Text/Data
- Hands Free Speaker
- Gravity and Tilt/Shake sensor
- Hearing Aid Compatible
- Up to 64GB MicroSD Card Compatible
Samsung Galaxy Stardust Specifications
- Size: 4.77" x 2.46" x 0.41"
- 4" TFT Touchscreen
- 1.2Ghz Dual Core Processor
- 1 GB RAM
- 8 GB Internal Memory
- Weight: 4.1 OZ
- 1500 mAh Battery, 12 Hours Talk Time/ 11 Days Standby
The specifications for the Stardust are fairly consistent with the other phones Tracfone has recently released. One very exciting feature is the 8 GB of internal memory, the most we've seen on a phone offered by Tracfone. We will be sure to locate that actual available space, but it looks promising
Now let's see how the Stardust looks compared with some of the other Android phones from Tracfone.
If you want to see a full list of Tracfone smartphones, visit our Android Tracfone List for quick comparisons.
Samsung Galaxy Stardust Compared to Other Tracfone Smartphones
The main differences between the Stardust and Ace Style are the RAM and Internal Memory. The Stardust has twice the amount of RAM and Internal Memory as the Ace Style, which means it can have more apps running at one time, and have more apps loaded on the phone. We still haven't seen the Ace Style released, so maybe Tracfone has just skipped it, and gone straight to the slightly better Samsung Galaxy Stardust. When comparing the Stardust to the LG Ultimate 2, we see that the Ultimate 2 has a larger screen at 4.5", but a similar processor, RAM, and internal Memory. The Ultimate 2 also has the slightly newer Android 4.4. The LG Ultimate 2 is our current pick for the Best Tracfone Cell Phone, but the Stardust isn't far off, and may be more desirable for some.
Both the Moto E and Alcatel Onetouch Icon Pop also have larger screens, at 4.3" and 5.0", but have similar specs on RAM, processor, and camera, and the Stardust even appears to come with more internal memory.
What we can determine from this is that the Samsung Galaxy Stardust isn't going to be the next big phone for Tracfone users, but it does fit in with the current best offerings, and for those who prefer a smaller screen, it might be a great option.
We will continue to share details about the Samsung Galaxy Stardust as it becomes available. At this time the Stardust is available on eBay, QVC (for a short time) and Amazon. Last check it was also listed on the Tracfone website.
View the Samsung Galaxy Stardust on Amazon for $69
View the Samsung Galaxy Stardust on eBay for $79
View the Samsung Galaxy Stardust for $109 on QVC with 1200 minutes
The Stardust is showing up on a variety of retail sites beyond the ones listed above, and may also be available in stores.

Where can you buy a armor case for this phone
ReplyDeleteDid you try Amazon or ebay ?
DeleteEbay and Amazon have them.I'm getting this phone and getting my case from ebay
DeleteI believe the S766c *may* have the same physical dimensions as the Samsung Galaxy Ace Style (S765c) - if so, there are plenty of cases available, and some Walmarts carry them.
DeleteI bought this phone...WIFI can be used without ever activating the phone. The "Phone" number pad has a bad lay-out where the "send Key" is directly below the number pad 8 key. The phone will "send" instantly and deduct time without a completed number or confirmation. I hate the default "Google apps" mostly because of the ad-ware that takes the screen--I don't mind paying money for good apps but I hate seeing ads. The on-off button is directly across from the volume button so it is easy to turn the phone off by accident. The "google apps" in many cases make it difficult to select where to store files, on device or on SD drive. The battery is poor, or low size: 1500mAh. For me, that lasts about a day. I've ordered a 3300mAh from an Ebay vendor. (anyone know a better battery?) The dimensions of the device fit nicely in a shirt pocket. It has a basic protective rubberized case wrapper that does protect it from minor falls.
Deleteright now as of 7-28-15 49.99 at target
DeleteMy son's came with the case.
DeleteJust ordered this special through QVC last night. Due to the color I ordered, anticipated arrival date is first week of may, which is fine since I have 87 service days left on my current trac phone. Most other colors were shipped out wayyy faster. Thank you for this wonderful BLOG!!! It's my go to every 3 months for promo codes and phone reviews!
ReplyDeleteif you are upgrading to a smart phone, buy all your time and use your promos before changing phones. this is the best trick for tracphone. you can not use promos for their smart phones and there is no super size option when buying new time. Best trick is buy the $99 1 year card and super size it for 49 bucks do this two times and you will have 4 years of service. then when you upgrade/convert to a smart phone you will have 4 more years at the best price. they will convert your existing minutes to equal talk/text/data buckets.
DeleteOdd that you mention this, as the Stardust I just bought recently (for $50 on sale) included a free case and triple minutes/texts/data for life - said it on and inside the box. And, the 1/yr $99 plan is not the best Tracfone offers, they have "bigger" plans available online.
DeleteYou misunderstood what the first reply comment was.
DeleteYou don't get bonus minutes on smartphones only on non-smart phones. So if that's the case buy your minutes which triples on most tracfone just like the smartphones, where you make out is the bonus minutes, anywhere from 15 minutes to 2 hours that will triple once you move it over to your new smartphone.
It's the bonus minutes you don't get on smartphones, no better plan or trick on maximizing minutes at any price on tracfone plans.
75544 - 300 bonus minutes - Valid May 2016
Using that code and maxing out for 4 years that gives you 20 hours of talk time for free - that you can't get with the smartphone plans at any cost. Right now it's $150 for 1000 minutes, so you're getting at least $30 free in the original commenters tip that comes out to $120 in free minutes.
I want to buy a cover for the Galaxy Stardust online. Which size will fit this phone?
ReplyDeleteCovers they are showing on QVC when buying the Stardust do not fit!!! I broke mine trying to squeeze it on the trac phone received today. I see others have complained in the reviews on QVC about the size being too small. You can read them yourself.
DeleteYes they DO FIT- you DONT SQUEEZE IT IN !!
DeleteIt is a two piece cover that snaps apart and the phone fits inside.
Once you seperate the two pieces (front & back) place the phone inside,
Snap the front and back together around your phone. Simple, and much more secure them a single piece cover.
Also bought the today's special on QVC and it was in my hands the next day. I was very surprised. I have been using a Tracfone for a few years but this one is way ahead of the game. My old one was slow for texting as it had the ABC, DEF, etc. buttons rather than a full keyboard. I don't call or text that needed to upgrade and QVC had it available before I had even begun my research
ReplyDeleteDoes the QVC deal with 1200 minutes mean only 400 minutes for talk, 400 minutes for text, and 400 minutes data? And if the 400 minutes for talk expires (but still has minutes remaining for text or data), must you purchase more minutes to talk?
ReplyDeleteNo, it's 1200 minutes for talk,1200 minutes for test and 1200 minutes for data. I just received my Samsung Galaxy stardust and when the minutes were loaded it came out as 1885 for each, not sure why as my old phone only had 35 minutes left on it, but I'm not complaining.
DeleteDoes anyone know how to change out of "easy mode"?
ReplyDeleteHold the Home button. When the app manager shows up, click on "task manager" at the bottom. Then at the top click "Clear defaults." Clear the Touchwiz Easy Home. Next, click the Home button. Now, select Touchwiz home, not Touchwiz Easy Home.
DeleteI want a cover and user manual but am unable to locate either online. Ideas?
ReplyDeleteI was able to find the manual at samsung.com by searching using only the model number SM-S766C. http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/SM-S766C
DeleteI got this phone on QVC for my husband, got the phone and VERY nice -- but it came with a screen protector for a different style phone. (extra wide area at top to THE RIGHT -- needed extra wide area at top to the LEFT-for 2 little sensors). I have checked everywhere to get the correct protector. Do you know where I can get one?
ReplyDeleteThe QVC package for selfie stick with bluetooth remote shutter does not pair with the S766C. Phone pairs with other bluetooth devices, just not the 'recommended' device sold via QVC to go with the phone. No way to contact the company..its CHINA!
ReplyDeletePurchased the phone for my wife from QVC. Nice Phone, but I wish it had a notification LED for voicemail, missed calls, etc like my LG Ultimate 2 has.
ReplyDeleteBought this model recently and find the lack of notification to be a huge design flaw. Have you found a work-around solution?
DeleteGo to voicemail set up. Choose more options and hit correct prompt to turn on your voicemail icon
Deletego to Google play store, download the NoLED app. adjust NoLED settings as needed. ive used this app on 2 phones. love it.
DeleteHas anyone tried the new 4G LTE sim kit? and if so, what phone?
ReplyDeleteWhat are you talking about? Tracfone now uses AT&T networks? Where is the source of this information?
DeleteThey use Verizon networks for CDMA, others are AT& T networks.
DeleteWhen I looked last year. If the phone model # has a G it is Att or T-Moble, if model # ended in C it was Verizon or Sprint if those were available other providers if they are not. I Think maybe Tracfone prefered was the ATT & Verizon.
DeleteThe phone is available on eBay http://m.ebay.com/itm/151641857598?nav=SEARCH
ReplyDeleteHave new Samsung galaxy stardust via QVC. Have activated, used calling etc.charged phone to 100 o/o but won't open to homepage help
ReplyDeleteThank you Peter. I am currently using the quite new Unimax and i like it. However, i have owned practically every phone TracFone has ever offered and chose the Valet for my first smartphone and i also liked it and chose it for the very same reasons you mentioned, better processor than the original Samsung and also less expensive. My point, although the Unimax has a better processor than the Valet ( specs ) i'm not entirely sure it is a better processor. I believe the Valet uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor but i have not been able to even find what processor the Unimax uses.
ReplyDeleteJust used the promo code 12745 it worked on the 60 minute card got 60 bonus minutes on a triple minute tracfone so I got 240 minutes for a 60 minute card what a deal thanks alot
ReplyDeleteStardust is my first smart phone experience so far so good. QVC purchased today special received 3/25.
ReplyDeleteCan u see any number on the battery of your galaxy? Mine won't hold a charge more than a day, even when not in use
Deletepresumably you have already turned on the Power Saving Mode, and gone thru your settings to reduce "auto" waste, restricted background data usage, turned off un-needed apps, etc.
DeleteThat done, go to Settings, tap More, tap Battery. See what is draining your power if its going fast even when its not in use.
Where can I buy a battery for a Samsung Galaxy Stardust? Got the phone from QVC, won't hold a charge. Less than 24 hours even if not in use. Did all the suggested things to save power, no luck
ReplyDeletedono if it will work, but I bought the 34C from Sears on that black Friday deal, had the same problem with the battery, I called Trackphone, spoke with a rep, agreed to send me a new battery for free. You can try it.
Deletebattery pluss
DeleteGot a Samsung Galaxy Stardust via QVC as par of one of their Tracfone deals. Cannot figure out, after reviewing the user manual and online tutorial, how to use call waiting. Does this plan/phone come with that, and if so, how do I use it (procedural details please)
ReplyDeletesamsung s766c myaccount app doesn't work any help ????
ReplyDeleteI just tried to use Sam.fascinate on byop and won't work.found out from tracfone the phones need to be unlocked.I didn't know that..disappointing.how do you know if a phones unlocked?especially if you're buying it online like ebay.
ReplyDeleteIf I use the wifi, does it use up tracfone minutes?
ReplyDeleteNo it doesnt. Only when you are away fro nm the WiFi it does.
DeleteCheck on text messages, I think I saw the text used phone minutes even if on wefi
Deletedoes this phone have a glass screen?
ReplyDelete6/14/2015 - Kmart is advertising this phone this week for $49.00! Before I jump I would like to hear from someone who has actually used the Samsung Galaxy Stardust before I replace my ZTE Valet, please:
ReplyDeleteMy complaints with the ZTE are 1) limited wifi range and 2) inadequate volume (even with Speaker Boost app) on the speaker. Can anyone please address these issues for the Samsung? If so THANK YOU!!!
I tried researching this phone on the Samsung website but could not find a listing for it. They have no listing by either name (Galaxy Stardust) nor model number (s766c). According to their website, it doesn't exist! What gives??
ReplyDeleteRJPB
Do the GALAXY Samsung Stardust Tracfone work in Alaska?
ReplyDeleteI had this phone 1week and it broke.didnotlike it nearly as much as the ultimate 2.love this phone.going to try the Lg 22c..
ReplyDeleteWhere can I download the Windows 8 driver for my Samsung Galaxy Stardust SM-S766C?
ReplyDeleteI wish TracFone offered a phone with more than 8GB of internal memory. I keep running out of space! I've now uninstalled everything other than the Google services that are system apps and moved everything that I could to my SD card and still haven't any room for my other desired apps!!! I bought the LG L41C hoping that would solve the problem, but it hasn't. I'm quite frustrated.
ReplyDeletehttp://tracfonereviewer.blogspot.com/2014/12/best-apps-for-tracfone-android-users.html
DeleteHow does one delete messages?
ReplyDeletepress left of the home button on bottom. a menu will pop up with the delete option.
DeleteI am having battery drain while I am charging it, galaxy stardust. Can I get some help?
ReplyDeletetrying to get case OFF (got it on...no problem) Can anyone help?
ReplyDeleteI just bought this Stardust model and wanted my 1,313 units or minutes transferred to this phone plus my phone number. The number went over but not the minutes. I've called tracfone 3x now and still haven't gotten this resolved. Can anyone advise me what to do next?
ReplyDeleteTo the previous anonymous - if you're still around, I rec'd a galaxy stardust for Christmas and had the same problem - my minutes stood at 5,925 on my old phone and while I achieved activation and programming, the minutes didn't transfer. Took two phone calls and I had to explain to both reps that everything was completed except the transfer of minutes and I wanted it done so I could make calls. It eventually happened but not until I had a panic attack! lol Be persistent.
DeleteCan this Stardust bring to Net10
ReplyDeleteThis phone is just a recycled 'galaxy light.'
ReplyDeleteI got one with 1200 min, txt, & data. So, will it rollover every month?
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know how to access and remove the sim card?
ReplyDeleteSame question -- doesn't look like it has a removable SIM from what I can see.
DeleteTake off the back cover it will be on the side, put on your glasses on it is a very small slot.
Delete---------------------------
Install a Memory Card
You can install an optional microSD or microSDHC
memory card (not included) to expand available memory
space.
Note: A memory card can be installed at any time; it is not
necessary to install it prior to using the device.
Do any of the tracfone smart phones have 'face talk'?
ReplyDeleteWhat if the phone I want doesn't come up with my zip code?
I bought the Samsung stardust and the screen used to turn 90 degrees to text. Turned it on today and can't get the screen to turn to enter a message. Any ideas?
ReplyDeleteFrom the home screen, swipe from the very top edge to pull down the black screen. Check to be sure the green line is still showing"screen rotation" indicating that is still turned on. Hope this helps.
DeleteThe Samsung Galaxy Stardust is available(as of today) for $49.00 from Walmart.com
ReplyDeleteBought one today. Experiencing much difficulty texting using this phone. The keyboard is terrible and many letters stick. Any one else experiencing these problems? Any helpful ideas to remedy this/
DeleteWish I saw this earlier as an ex has been hacking my Verizon account so I have since bought 2 tracphones which also have had manual OS put in rendering them useless to me as you cant do a hardboot nor flash
DeleteRoss, i have a samsung centura and if you take the back off(expose the battery) the sim slot is To the left on the lower outside of the phone. Not sure if it is the same on the stardust.zsssdxx
ReplyDeletecan i install a New Sim Card to this phone...if so, How & Where.... Thank You Very Much for Your Time an Brains.... You All R O C K
ReplyDeleteWhat is the difference between this and the ace style?
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely no difference. This is just a re-branded Ace Style. They're otherwise TOTALLY identical.
Deletedo I need wi fi to phone on my Tracfone Samsung Galaxy Stardust?
ReplyDeleteNo, wifi isn't required to talk on ANY phone.
DeleteJust picked this Samsung up at Kmart a few days ago-- compared to the UMX it's night vs. day, real good phone. Responsive, fast, no issues..great coding on the 4.3 Android.
ReplyDeleteWhatever you do , don't try to save a small amount of money and buy a UMX or ZTE (I bought both mistakes-learn from mine-- & finally have a decent phone now ).
Yeah, I'm not sure about the ZTE whateveritis you're talking about... but the UMX (pardon my French here) is just a piece of shit.
DeleteBut that $49 price point isn't a K-Mart specific thing. I've seen it for the same price at Kroger and WalMart.
It's not the NICEST phone in the world by any means, but when compared to the other Tracfone branded phones, it's up there among the best.
The LG Ultimate 2 beats it out with a FEW more features (like a flash for the camera) and, though it's up to personal preference a larger screen at 4.5" (though at the same resolution) but this definitely isn't a slouch.
Upgrading my phone and got this for $29.99 by downloading $20.00 digital coupon from Kroger. Sweet deal.
ReplyDeleteDoes the Samsung Stardust have navigation?
ReplyDeleteIs it possiable for the samsung stardust s766c to use the univeral remote apps
ReplyDeleteI've been using older TRACFONEs (dumb phones) for 5 plus years. About 6 months ago the signal quality decreased by 50%. Where I had 3 or more bars now I'm lucky to get a signal at all. I suspect the old and new TechKnowledgies aren't totally compatible. If I upgrade to Samsung Galaxy Stardust S766C for Tracfone, when I transfer the number to the new phones will the existing time left on my old phones transfer also? Also, what to do with the old phones?
ReplyDeleteNorm
Yes, the minutes and remaining service days will transfer to the new phone.
DeleteI have old phone too Will my family plan and mInutes transfer?
DeleteYes, I just upgraded from a "dumb" phone to the Stardust and my minutes transferred to the new phone. A word of warning though...Android phone "minutes" are actually now Talk/Text/Data, which means that if you have 60/60/60 and you text a lot, you can run out of texts, but still have Talk & Data time left. I'm finding it's a pain, but I'm looking into free texting apps (like Google Messaging) to use over wifi without using "texts."
DeleteDid you figure this out, the free texting app? I had no idea when I bought my phone that it worked like thie 60/60/60 and it is frustrating!
DeleteTo Anonymous on 1/18/16 (but mostly for others reading this thread): I don't know if this was available when you posted but as of the date of my post you can buy text and data separately. The current rate is $5 for 1000 text messages. You don't get additional days added, just text msgs.
DeleteDoes it take the same battery as the Samsung Galaxy Centura? I found a high capacity battery for the Centura but don't see one listed for the Stardust.
ReplyDeleteI popped in a 64GB SD card
ReplyDeletebut the Stardust tells me it's only 27.47GB ??
I've been searching for an answer and haven't found it yet, so I'm hoping someone here knows what's up...
ReplyDeleteI made a 15-second video for Instagram via iMovie on my mac. It exported out as a .mov, but transferring it to my Stardust, the video won't play. I've also tried MPEG4 and H.264 encoding. Since I'm unable to play the video on the phone, I'm unable to upload it to Instagram. Does anyone know why I can't play .mov or .mp4 videos on this phone and what file types are Stardust-friendly?
I found this phone on sale at my local Kroger store for $9.99. Yes, ten bucks. It was not advertised at this price in the store flyer or on the website, so you may want to check at your local Kroger store to see if it is on sale there. Some of my local Kroger stores were out of stock, but I found it at one of the stores here in town.
ReplyDeleteDo you know if the samsung galaxy stardust can be upgraded from jellybean to kitkat orlollypop?
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know how to remove sim card or where is the Sim card slot on Galaxy Stardust?
ReplyDeletetake cover off its on the left side small sd slot
DeleteLooks like that's the SD slot not for the SIM card.
DeleteIt's a GSM phone so no removable Sim card.
DeleteTo Anonymous 8/15/16 at 4:27 PM. If the Stardust says S766C it's a CDMA (on Verizon network) and the SIM card is removable. I find it hard to believe any Tracfone wouldn't have a removable SIM because if you're phone is on a network that doesn't work in your area they'll send you a SIM for the other network.
DeleteI've had this phone for about a week now. I just got finished setting everything up on it, and now the battery refuses to take a charge. When I plug the phone in to the charger with the phone powered off, the screen just flashes on then off every couple of seconds, but never shows that little battery icon charging like it did the first time I charged it.
ReplyDeleteIs this phone just a hunk of junk, or what?
For the samsung stardust SM-S766C ... how do you move songs over from ph device to (micro-usb) the other ways take much longer time... on this page it says my ph can handle 64gb for sd is it not the same for (micro-usb)?
ReplyDeleteProblem with call sound breaking up on the recipent's end. Everyone I talk to say that I am breaking up. Any advice?
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know how to make the security pin pad larger on this phone? Changing the font size does not change it and neither does the worthless "easy" mode.
ReplyDeleteHaving a problem with SM-766C shutting down and restarting. Battery is charged OK. Sometimes in conversation shuts off without warning and reboots. Any answers?
ReplyDeletesounds like you may be inadvertently pressing the power on-off botton as you talk. thats not uncommon, and yes, its very vexing.
Deletetry grasping the lower half of the phone when talking , keeping fingers away from the
power button located on the right side of the upper half.
I actually got this phone for free during a TracFone special sale about a year ago. It has been a great little phone. I added a larger microSD card and have all my music on it. Just transfer from my computer to the card and it's always fast. Signal is pretty good - have some issues at times but it's due to where I live (no matter what provider, I've had the same problem). Use Bluetooth in my car - it does cut out both on the phone when calling or playing music through the stereo but I'm not sure if it's the phone or car. Camera is okay - wish was better quality, but it could be worse. I am not a huge internet phone user but it always works when I need it. Texting is good - buttons could be a little bigger. After a year, I'm still happy with it and no plans to upgrade since it does everything I need!
ReplyDeleteDoes this phone use a simple card
ReplyDeleteAnyone know where to buy a new battery for the phone? my battery barely holds a charge after 1 year.
ReplyDeleteThis phone does not work well in the house, I have to go outside for clearer reception. I live 500 feet outside the city limits , I dot know how far from the Verizon cell tower which is what tracphone uses for service, or I understand it is Verizon.
ReplyDelete
