Tracfone S326DL Samsung Galaxy A32 5G Review

The Galaxy A32 is the first 5G compatible smartphone available from Tracfone. It also comes with a large 6.5" screen, 64 GB internal storage and Android 11.

To make the most of Tracfone's 5G network access, consumers will need phones that are compatible with the updated frequencies and speeds. And so far, the A32 5G is the first device, but we expect to see several more options in the near future including the Moto G Stylus 5G and Samsung Galaxy A42 5G.

The A32 5G is targeted as a budget smartphone with 5G compatibility, but for Tracfone, it has a fairly steep price at $299.

It is a sleek and beautiful phone that holds many of the classic Samsung looks and features, and even retains a 3.5mm headphone jack and micro USB Type-C charging port. Will the Galaxy A32 be worth the price?

Let's start with the pro's and con's for the Galaxy A32 5G

Samsung Galaxy A32 5G Quick Facts

What we Like:
5G Compatible
Android 11
Good Performance and Battery Life
48MP Quad-rear camera

What we Don't Like:
Low Resolution Screen
Expensive

To keep the price from climbing too high, Samsung did opt for a TFT LCD screen instead of the super AMOLED screens on their mid to high-end smartphones. But this phone does have a lot going for it, including great performance and battery life, as well as Android 11.

Now for the full details on the Galaxy A32 5G with the features and specs list.

Most consumers are very familiar with the Samsung brand as they are a global manufacture and the largest consumer electronics maker (by revenue) in the world. They are based in South Korea and have a broad lineup of smartphones with their high end device, like the Samsung Galaxy S21+, a contender for one of the best phones in the world.

The Galaxy A32 5G does get some of the classic design elements of Samsung phones with a familiar layout for the charging and headphone ports and it also features Samsung's own UI changes.

Now let's get into the details with our review of the A32.

Samsung Galaxy A32 5G Review

Touchscreen
The 6.5" HD TFT touchscreen on the Galaxy A32 has a resolution of 720x1600 for a PPI (Pixels per Inch) of about 270. The scene ratio is 20:9, which is typical for many newer devices that have a taller design to accommodate a larger screen without making the phone too wide to hold comfortably.

The TFT display on the Galaxy A32 is something you would expect on a phone closer to half the price of this device. In fact, last year's Samsung Galaxy A21 has the exact same screen specs. We would have liked to see Samsung's Super AMOLED screen on the A32 5G, which offers deeper and more vibrant colors, but to keep the cost low, they went with the cheaper screen option.

While it isn't the higher quality screen, the TFT screen on the A32 is still bright and very adequate for everyday use. And one big feature is the Corning Gorilla Glass 5, which provides superior protection from scratches and even an accidental drop.

For the Super AMOLED screen, take a look at the Samsung Galaxy A42 5G.

Internal Performance- Processor, Storage and RAM
The performance on the Samsung Galaxy A32 5G is quite good thanks to the 2.0 Ghz Octa-core processor, 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage. The processor is a MediaTek MT6853 Dimensity 720 5G which offers a good balance of performance and energy efficiency. With the 4 GB RAM, it is capable of plenty of multitasking and gaming.

The internal 64 GB storage offers a lot of space for apps, media and more. And there is a Micro SDXC slot for up to 1 TB additional storage.

Camera
The quad rear camera setup is a great feature on the Galaxy A32 5G which includes a 48 MP main camera, 8 MP ultrawide, 5 MP macro and 2 MP depth sensor. The image quality is quite good for the main camera, with good details and colors. You also get LED flash, HDR and panorama.

For video, the rear camera can shoot up to 4k at 30fps and 1080p at 120fps.

The selfie camera is also great with a 13 MP senor and good color rendering.

Battery
A big 5,000 mAh battery in combination with the efficient processor leads the A32 5G to excellent battery performance. On a full charge expect up to 40 hours of talk time, and 20 days on standby. For regular daily use, expect this phone to easily last a full day. 15W fast charging is available and connects with a standard USB Type-C port.

Android OS
Android 11 makes its debut along with Samsung One UI 3.1 on the Galaxy A32 5G. Some of the new features include notification history, built in screen recorder, chat bubbles and more. Beyond just updated features on the newer Android OS, users also get updated security and battery efficiency.

Design
The Galaxy A32 5G draws from classic Samsung design with the glass-like plastic back and chrome-colored frame, but obviously these are small downgrades from their higher-end models. The phone is on the heavy side, at 7.23 OZ due to the large battery and TFT screen.

On the right side is the dual power button and fingerprint reader, which is responsive and convenient. At the bottom we have a standard 3.5mm headphone jack, USB charging port and loudspeaker.

The bezels on the front and teardrop selfie camera spot do feel a little dated, but it is a small thing that won't matter to most people.

Consider getting a case for the Galaxy A32 5G to help protect it, especially the plastic back which is prone to scratches.

Conclusion
While not perfect in every way, the Samsung Galaxy A32 5G is a solid performer and for Samsung fans, it will be a popular option to get a 5G capable device without spending the big bucks.

With a list price of $299, it is on the more expensive side for a Tracfone, and there are many more impressive devices available at that price point or less, albeit without the 5G capability.

If you like Samsung phones, are looking for a 5G compatible device but don't want to spend too much, the Galaxy A32 5G is a great option.

We do expect several more 5G compatible phones to come to Tracfone in the near future, including the Moto G Stylus 5G which will likely be a good rival for the A32 5G. Keep up with new 5G phones and more in our recent post. And see all the Latest Tracfone Smartphones in this list.

Where to Buy the Samsung Galaxy A32 5G

The best deal on the A32 5G comes with an airtime bundle for the list price. It is likely this phone will be on sale towards the end of the year, but we don't have anything specific at this time.

For an unlocked version to use with Tracfone BYOP shop the A32 5G Unlocked on Newegg. The unlocked version has all the same features, but offers more flexibility being able to swap the SIM card out and use it on different networks.

Well TracFone still has this mediocre specs phone refurbished for $100 ! This is over a 3 year old phone; at best shouldn't cost over $50 range.
Specs doesn't jump out years later for a poor display which it has and no stereo speakers!
