Tracfone LG Classic Flip Phone (L125DL) 4G LTE

Tracfone LG Classic Flip (L125DL) Features and Specs

tracfone lg flip 125dl specs

Tracfone releases a new LG flip phone with 4G LTE capability.

The LG Classic Flip has 8 GB internal storage, 1 GB RAM, 2 MP camera, 2.8" color display and runs AOSP 8.1 with T9 text input.

While most Tracfone users now use a smartphone, some still prefer the older flip phone option for the simplicity, longer battery life, and compact size.

With the closing of 3G CDMA networks at the end of 2020, older flip phones, won't work with Tracfone service. Tracfone also has not offered any good flip phones in recent years, with the only options from companies like ZTE and Alcatel.

Now the LG Classic Flip, released in May 2020, is available with 4G LTE service coverage and we will cover all the details, features and specs on this flip phone below.

LG Classic Flip L125DL Features and Specs

  • Operating System: Android Open Source Project (AOSP)  8.1 with T9 text input

  • GPS
  • Bluetooth
  • MP3 Player

LG Classic Flip Specs

Camera: 2 MP fixed focus Camera
Screen: 2.8'' QVGA Main Display (240 x 320) + 0.9'' Mono Sub Display (32 x 128)
Memory: 1 GB
Storage: 8 GB (about 4.3 GB usable)
Battery: 1470 mAh battery (removable)

The LG L125DL is a return to the classic flip phone (as the name suggests) and as such, it has rather basic specs including just a 2 MP fixed focus camera and only about 4 GB usable internal storage.

But most consumers who buy this phone won't be concerned with the camera or storage, but rather the simplicity of the device and durability.

Using Android Open Source Project (AOSP) 8.1 allows for some great functionality including T9 text input for faster typing and texting on the dial pad.

The phone is also capable of using 4G LTE and VoLTE service making it compatible with Tracfone after the 3G network closure at the end of 2020.

LG is well known as a cell phone manufacture, and although they now focus on smartphones, they are known for a number of popular slip phones including the LG 440G from several years ago.

The LG L125DL looks to be a remake of that classic phone, but with plenty of improvements and modernization.

Tracfone has offered other flip phones from Alcatel and ZTE, but none of them had the same quality or durability as older flip phones. Now with this new LG Classic Flip we think it will be a great option for consumers who want to get back to a simple cell phone.

The L125DL does not provide a data/time remaining read.
It also looks like you can't down load any apps.
Other than that it is a great value.

Thank you for this review and the promo code! I really needed a flip phone, and think this will help a lot.

The maximum size Micro SD card that the LG L125DL phone accepts is 32GB which uses the FAT32 file system. Anything larger capacity doesn't work because those use exFAT.

Has anyone figured out how to get the SOS function to work? Have turned SOS on, input a contact number but so far no joy. Currently have location turned off but manual says using the function will temporarily turn it on.

I have the old flip phone ..have had two of them for years. Does the new one double the minutes like the old one?

To the Unknown who couldn’t find the data/time remaining read: to get that, you text BALANCE to 611611 (the service is free, or should be.)

To the Anonymous with the two old flip phones: I’d had a 2G LG 420G since 2010, and took it to Target to transfer my number to an LG Classic Flip; not only was the tech guy able to effect the transfer of my number, but my double-minute account got grandfathered in as triple minutes—my 1011 minutes were parceled out into texts, minutes, and MB of data apiece. Moreover, the new phone now accepts both regular and smartphone prepaid cards (although the promo codes for extra minutes no longer work with this one.) Therefore, a 60-minute card gives me 180 texts, 180 talk minutes, and 180 MB of data. I’m not sure how it would work with a new account, though. (Note that Verizon just bought Tracfone and its subcompanies such as Total Wireless and Straight Talk, which may account for the decision to retain the multiple minutes policy.)

Mine has received multimedia messages satisfactorily; my chief annoyance is that the manual is ridiculously inadequate, and you’ll have to determine a lot by trial and error.

If your old flip phone has double the minutes, and you are buying the new phone because the old one is 3G and you have to update to 4G, you can transfer your old phone number and any leftover minutes, texts, data and days with a customer service agent at the time of activation of the new phone. Just be sure to let them know that you had double the minutes on your old phone and they will make sure they transfer the "double the minutes" to your new phone when they help you activate your new phone. Just call 1-800-867-7183 and have them help you with the activation. You have to make sure you go through all the options when you call to get to a live person to help you.

How can I know the bands for this device?

4G LTE bands 13, 12, 25, 26, 41 per Best Buy specs

Bought two for my senior parents. These are triple minutes phones, built into the phone for life, which means if you buy the basic minutes cards, NOT the smartphone minutes cards, your minutes will be tripled what is on the card, i.e. 60 minutes becomes 180 minutes. Only the basic minutes cards will triple minutes/texts/data.

My previous LG flip phone would stay charged for several days with the phone turned on. Battery life with the LG L125DL turned on is only from 12 to 24 hours. Is this normal?

My Tracfone L 125 DL classic flip is supposed to have a Child Blocking mode. Cannot find it in the manual. How do you turn it on or off?

Can you keep your existing number and can you transfer by sims card all info from you old TracFone?

Most of the LTE bands listed are Sprint bands: 25, 26, 41. These will be shut down by T-Mobile by the summer 2022.

The camera in mine stopped working after six months. Not a big deal, but...
Contacted Tracphone rep and they sent an RMA label to print and send mine back for a replacement. I wanted to wait for the replacement so I could transfer my contacts and info to the new one and then send the old one back.
Seems I no can do. They want the old phone in hand before they send a replacement.
I'll keep my old one as it works well. Besides, the quality of the photos these take? Not top of the line.
As well...I was put on hold three different times. while dealing with the females who spoke very poor English. I could NOT understand them. Very frustrating 45 minutes.
