Tracfone LG L41C

Note: The LG Ultimate 2 is now available with Minutes Bundle from eBay! See the last section below for links to the phone on both Amazon and eBay.

Another Android powered smartphone for use with Tracfone, has been released and it is the LG L41C, also known as the LG Ultimate 2. Tracfone continues to release newer, and slightly better, smartphones for use on their prepaid service.

The LG Ultimate 2 comes with Android 4.4 OS, a 5MP camera with autofocus, 1 GB RAM and uses Verizon 3G cell towers. It also havs a 4.5" screen, which will make many Tracfone users very excited.

Along with the LG Ultimate 2, there are several other Android phones coming, or already available for use with Tracfone. The LG Optimus Fuel, Samsung Galaxy Ace Style, and Moto E are some of the other options. You can also see the full list of smartphones by visiting our Tracfone Android Smartphone List. The Alcatel A564C Onetouch Icon Pop was also released by Tracfone, and we will be posting more on that very soon. It has a 5" screen, and Android 4.4, as well as a quad care processor.

Tracfone has a number of phones that they may be releasing in the future, like the Moto E, and possibly several Android phones for use on GSM networks. Keep up with our latest news and posts by following us on Facebook.

Now, let's take a closer look at what to expect from the LG Ultimate 2.

Tracfone LG L41C - What to Expect

Many of the details about the LG Ultimate 2 have become clear over the last few months that the phone has been available. It has become widely accepted as one of the best phones currently available from Tracfone, a long with the Moto E, and Alcatel Onetouch.

The LG Ultimate 2 has already been spotted for use with Straight Talk, and at a price of $130. It is also now listed on the Tracfone website for the same price, but is available from many online retailers like Amazon, eBay, HSN, and others, for just over $100.

The Ultimate 2 is basically very similar to the Verizon prepaid LG Optimus Exceed 2. which appears to be a well rounded smartphone.

You can expect easy viewing on the LG Ultimate 2's 4.5" touchscreen (800x400) that will make it bigger than the LG Optimus Fuel, Moto E, or LG Optimus Dynamic II. Only the Alcatel Onetouch Icon Pop has a larger screen at this time, at 5".

As mentioned above, the dual core processor and 1 GB RAM give the Ultimate 2 good performance, and the ability to keep up with almost any app currently available for Androids. Many consumers are extremely happy to have the opportunity to upgrade from single core, 512 MB phones.

Another great feature that may be the most important for some people, is the amount of internal memory available for loading apps and other things. Initially it appeared that the LG Ultimate 2 would have 4GB of Internal Memory, with somewhat less than that actually usable. However, it has been reported that there is over 4GB of usable space on the LG Ultimate 2, meaning that it probably comes with 5GB or more of internal memory.

The Cameras on the LG Ultimate 2 are nothing amazing, but if you've been stuck with the cameras on older phones it will be a refreshing upgrade. The Ultimate 2 comes with a 5MP rear camera, and 1.3MP front camera. Both a capable of good pictures, and the rear camera has autofocus for reading bar codes etc.

Below is a list of the features and specifications for the Tracfone LG Ultimate 2.

LG Ultimate 2 (L41C) Technical Specifications:

tracfone lg l41c ultimate 2
LG Ultimate 2 Keyboard
The L41C has some decent specs, with 1 GB of RAM, and a nice large screen, almost a full inch large than the previous phones.

While the battery is a decent size at 2100 mAh, the talk time and standby are less than the Moto E (which only has a 1980 mAh battery). It should last a full day with moderate use, but if you need a long battery life, the Moto E does an excellent job managing power consumption. Also turning GPS, WiFi and Data off will help conserve battery life.

Many of the other specs on the Ultimate 2 are a big improvement over phones like the LG Optimus Dynamic II, ZTE Valet, and Samsung Galaxy Centura.

Tracfone was relatively quick in releasing the the LG Ultimate 2 and Alcatel Onetouch Icon Pop. We heard about the Samsung Galaxy Ace Style months ago, but it has not surfaced, and may even be a lesser option with these new phones now available.

LG Ultimate 2 Review and Thoughts

So how does the Ultimate 2 perform, and what are our likes and dislikes about the phone? Glad you asked! Let's jump right in. We've collected a lot of information from around the web, and even from user comments below to share as balanced a review of the LG Ultimate 2 as we can.

Best Features and Likes for the Ultimate 2
We want to focus here on a few key features for the Ultimate 2 that make it stand out from other phones available from Tracfone at this time, and that might be important for those looking at buying this phone.

The internal memory and RAM, screen size, and cameras are some of the biggest factors that may lead you to be interested in the LG Ultimate 2, so let's take a closer look.

The internal memory for the Ultimate 2 is the space available for installing Android apps, and saving other data like pictures. The Ultimate 2 comes with over 4 GB of usable space, which is a lot compared to the 2 GB or less available on most other Tracfone smartphones. And some apps and data can even be transferred to an external SD card, freeing up additional space.

1 GB of RAM and a dual-core processor are about the minimum needed these days to comfortable run all the popular apps on an Android smartphone, and the LG Ultimate 2 meets this just fine. Many users report 200 MB or more of available RAM at any given time, and if you use a speed boosting app you can get even more free space. For those that might not know, RAM basically allows you to run multiple apps at the same time. So more RAM means more things can go on at once without problems, and less RAM means less stuff at once. When you get to 512 MB of RAM or less, you start to run into issues with overloading the RAM, which causes apps to close and other annoying stuff.

The LG Ultimate 2 has a 4.5" touchscreen. which is one of the biggest features for this phone. Previously, Tracfone only had phones with 3.5" to 3.8" screens, which may be fine for some people, but for others it is just a little too small. 4.5" is a nice screen size for reading, watching videos, typing on the virtual QWERTY keyboard, and really everything else. The only reason why one might not want a screen that large is for portability. But these days a 4.5" screen is average sized, and in no way uncomfortable to hold or use. Screen quality is very good, with 480x800 size, and 240 dpi.

Finally, front and rear facing cameras with flash and autofocus are a feature many Tracfone users have desired for a long time, and the LG Ultimate 2 delivers. The 5MP rear camera performs well and functions as it should. You can scan barcodes or QR codes with it, and the image quality is one of the best for Tracfone devices. Remember that if you want to send an image, you need to turn on you data.

Many users report being extremely satisfied with the Ultimate 2, as it is a phone with enough modern specs to keep up with other devices. The ability to have a smartphone running Android 4.4 on Tracfone's low cost network is a great thing.

But now we do want to share a few negatives about the phone to keep in mind.

Dislikes for the Ultimate 2 with Tracfone
First off, there is a lot to like about the Ultimate 2. It has a large screen, good cameras, great amount of memory available, good processor and RAM, and plenty of other things. But there are a few things to be aware of before you purchase it.

Many of the negatives with the LG Ultimate 2 actually revolve around using it with Tracfone service, and so aren't directly related to the phone. However, since you must use this phone with Tracfone, we will cover them here.

Our dislikes for the Ultimate 2 include using Verizon cell towers, splitting texts, calling and data up, tracking minutes, and it doesn't use the latest version of Android. If you already use Tracfone, and especially if you already use an Android phone with Tracfone, then you already know most of these issues.

Tracfone currently only uses Verizon 3G CDMA cell phone towers for all their Android devices. This works great if you live in an area with good coverage. If you don't, then it isn't so great. You should check with friends or neighbors in your area to see if they use Verizon, and you can also enter your ZIP code on the Tracfone website and see if the Android phones come up, which will help indicate if there is good service in your area.

However, if Tracfone doesn't show Android phones for your area, or tells you that you can't activate a smartphone at your ZIP code, that doesn't necessarily mean you won't get service there! Many users report activating their smartphone using a ZIP code from another area, and then having  no problem with reception. Just be aware that you are taking responsibility for the risk.

For all Tracfone Android and BYOP phones, prepaid minutes are split into three buckets or pools. You have calling minutes, texts, and data. All airtime is also tripled when adding it to the phone. This is generally a great deal for most people. However, for heavy texters, you might run out of texts more quickly, and there is no way to just buy more texts, you will have to buy a regular minutes card. This isn't a big deal for most people, but be aware of it.

Tracking minutes on the Android phones isn't as easy as before. Older 'dumb' phones displayed your remaining minutes and service time on the home-screen, and this isn't possible on Android devices. But it is easy enough to go online to the Tracfone website and check your balance there, or download and use the Tracfone app (just search for Tracfone app in the Google Play Store).

The LG Ultimate 2 runs on Android 4.4, which is no longer the latest version of Android. The latest is 5.0 lolipop, and the Ultimate 2 will not be updated to it. Don't worry though, Android 5.0 isn't really that great in my opinion, and mostly just changes the appearance for a lot of things, and adds extra steps for several functions.

As a final negative for all the Android phones, you can't use Promotional Codes with Tracfone Android devices. This isn't a huge deal, but for those that rely on the extra minutes, it is disappointing.

Overall, consumers who haven't used a Tracfone device may be disappointed with the customer service, and sometimes limited coverage of cell service, but for everyone familiar with Tracfone, the service shouldn't be any different.

Our opinion of the LG Ultimate 2 is very high, as it meets or exceeds many expectations for a good, modern smartphone. It is worth the money, especially if you buy it bundled with minutes.

Compared to the Moto E and Alcatel Onetouch Icon Pop
LG Ultimate 2 Review
LG Ultimate 2
Two other Tracfone devices that are on par with the Ultimate 2 are the Moto E, and Alcatel Onetouch. We will quickly compare each of these phones to the Ultimate 2 in case you are considering them.

The Moto E is a well designed budget smartphone in the same lineup as the Moto G and Moto X. The Moto E has a smaller, 4.3" screen, but it is slightly better quality. The Moto E doesn't have a front camera, nor autofocus or flash, which are deal-breakers for some. The Moto E also doesn't accept an external SD card, so you're stuck with just the internal memory. Battery life is probably better on the Moto E, but the battery isn't removable. Overall, the Moto E is a great phone, but the Ultimate 2 beats it in many categories.

The Alcatel Onetouch Icon Pop features a larger, 5" screen and quad-core processor. If you want the biggest screen available, the Onetouch is your choice. But users report some minor video lag when watching Youtube, and in general, the Ultimate 2 is a better all around phone. They both have front/rear cameras, and both 1 GB RAM. The Alcatel Onetouch has around 2GB of internal memory, which is a bit less than the Ultimate 2. So if you want the largest screen, go with the Alcatel, but otherwise, the Ultimate 2 is a slightly better choice.

For some sample pictures, and more information on the performance of the LG Ultimate 2, check out this forum post.

Each of the Android smartphones released by Tracfone have certain strengths and weaknesses and the LG Ultimate 2 is no different.

You can take a look at the LG Ultimate 2 Interactive Tutorial to get a better feel for how the phone looks.

We hope the information provided here was useful to you. Let us know your questions and thoughts about the Ultimate 2 in the comments section below. Also take a look at what others have to say.

Where to Buy/Find the LG Ultimate 2

As we mentioned, the LG L41C is retailing on the Tracfone website for about $130. However, it has recently disappeared from their site (likely it went out of stock) and cannot be purchased directly from them at this time. But you can buy it elsewhere with no problem, and often much cheaper!

The Ultimate 2 has been available bundled with minutes on QVC and similar sites, but limited quantities.

The LG Ultimate 2 is also finally available on eBay and Amazon, with several options to choose from:

LG Ultimate 2 on Amazon for $119 now $69

LG Ultimate 2 on Amazon with 1200 Minutes for $149 now $109

LG Ultimate 2 on eBay for just $99 now $69

LG Ultimate 2 with 600 Minutes on eBay for $149

LG Ultimate 2 with 1200 Minutes on eBay for $199 (currently on sale for $129)

No word yet on when/if the Ultimate 2 will be available from other retailers, but we will update as more information comes in.

There are plenty of cases for the LG Ultimate 2, because it is very similar to so other popular phones including the LG Exceed 2.

You may find our Tracfone BYOP page useful if you're looking for new phone options. It provides information on Bringing Your Own Phone to Tracfone, including some information on the success people are having with using the Moto G with Tracfone.

Also take a look at our Guide to How Minutes Work with Android Tracfone Devices. Tracfone changed things in several ways with the Android phones they now offer, and the article explains the changes, and what difference it makes for you.

Yes this is a good phone as far as trackphones go. its on par with the LG L70, but again as stated the details are in the actual specs.

I believe it has a flash, not positive though, and one site says quad core another says duel.

The kicker will be to see if LG allows for the Android 5 update like the Moto cells.

I like this one, but am holding off a bit to see what the LG Volt does, and what it ends up with IF it also comes to TF. however if by the holidays it doesn't and LG authorizes the A5 update, than this may be my first "smartphone" :)

is this better than the Moto E? Boy is Tracfone really slow at rolling out phones, its like pulling teeth!

Anonymous said...

The LG Ultimate 2... I had this for phone for almost a week. It's on the shelves all over the place around here.

Yes, it does have either a 1.2 or 1.3MP front facing camera.

Anonymous said...

The Alcatel is higher end than this one and includes a quad core processor however it's Mediatek. Qualcomm has the highest ARM license so they customize their cores more. Cores are not created equal.

I wouldn't hold your breath for updates. It's Tracfone after all.

Anonymous said...

Okay, I should be more specific. I've used this exact phone under Straight Talk, and it only hit the shelves last week. lol

Anonymous said...

Does it have a flash?

Anonymous said...

Yes, it does have flash.

Unless for whatever weird reason they change it from the Straight Talk phone I used.

Anonymous said...

I sincerely doubt the Alcatel actually has a quad core processor. On Tracfone's site this LG is also listed as having a quad core when in fact it's a Snapdragon 200 dual core.

The Alcatel is most likely running the same stuff.

Does this phone use the verizon network?

Yes, that's what the "C" stands for, (CDMA) Verizon towers

If it had a "G" (GSM) its AT&T towers

Since the phone is based on the Optimus Exceed 2 and L70. Any Optimus Exceed 2 or L70 case on Amazon will do.

All Tracfone Android phones uses verizon's cdma if I'm correct.

does it have unlimited carryover minutes like the optimus dynamic II?

Anonymous said...

I'm annoyed with these low resolution screens. I have the Trac Dynamic 2. The screen is not good for any web browsing, and it is slow. Tracfone is a great way to get some data for a low price, but these old phones are nuts. They could grab the first Gen Moto G, which is now a year old, and a better phone than these new ones. The Gen 2 Moto G is only $180. I don't understand the strategy of selling premium priced obsolete phones. And the BYOP thing is crazy complicated. I have three months left on my Tracfone, and I figure they will not have a decent Android by the end. There are a lot of other things people do with phones than call or use data. These phones are just no good enough, and you don't spend that much more for something that IS good enough.

Anonymous said...

I recently purchased this phone, and thus far I am quite impressed for what it is. Build quality is good, especially the back cover, which is easier to remove and feels more substantial than the cover of the Dynamic II.

The screen is far nicer than the previous models I have owned (said models being the Dynamic II and Samsung Centura), providing a much more crisp image befitting the higher resolution. The processing boost is quite noticeable, as even things which would perform sluggishly on my older units such as Noscript for Android are almost always smooth.

Reception thus far seems to at least up to par with the Dynamic II, though I have not had much chance to challenge the reception as of yet.

Video and audio playback are noticeably improved as well, especially audio clarity when using headphones. The rear speaker sounds a bit tinny at high volumes, but this is not a high end sound system, and some equalizer setting changes in VLC or the like can subdue that quite a bit.

Power usage seems to be higher thus far than with the Dynamic II, though given the more powerful processor and larger screen this was not unexpected. I suspect it should match up to the listed battery life.

There appears to not be many additional applications added by LG, which is fortunate. The flashlight widget is quite a useful feature, but I ended up disabling the other applications.

The only real issue I have noticed thus far is VLC does not display any files or folders within the directory for the external SD card when in Directory view...which is strange since it can find the media files in other modes, and other programs such as ES File Explorer find everything just fine. This may have something to do with the directory for the external SD card being different from my previous phones, (new directory on mine is /storage/external_SD/), but this seems to be more a VLC issue than anything else. In the end, I just tend to open media files via ES File Explorer for quick browsing.

Overall the L41c is far superior to its predecessors, and a great option if you do not want to go for the bulkier Alcatel.

(One unfortunate downside to my experience with this phone, but not the phone itself, was my phone was messed with and I now lack the Google Play Services and Google Play Store apps which came with the phone. This actually would not bother me, save for the fact the version of Youtube installed on the phone requires Google Play Services to function, and thus far I have not found a version of Play Services which will run properly. If anyone else who picks up this phone might be kind enough to point me in the direction of the version of Play Services which came with phone I would be much obliged.)

So there has been no increase in internal storage space? My biggest gripe about this phone's predecessor, the LGL34C, is that 4G internal storage is seriously prohibitive in light of KitKat's limitations on writing to the external drive. I literally do not have enough capacity to update any of my apps. My only option is to delete current apps, and that is ridiculous.

I was excited to read that a new release of this model with larger internal capacity was being released. Does this phone seriously only have 4G internal storage? What a mistake!

Just ordered it, previously had Tracfone Samsung Centura which I found disappointing. Takes too long to open up - screen darkens when trying to do a "call back" have to change position in the car many times to be able to see digits - cannot improve backlighting - my old LG was super for this but decided to upgrade to Android and wanted bigger screen - hope it is true that the visible screen size is 4.5" and overall unit is 5" - wish it came in white - the triple minurtes is a big selling point for me with no monthly bill - am senior senior and just want a phone that responds quickly and that I can see and hear clearly - bought all three from QVC so have till January 2015 to return if it does not perform as advertised.

Anonymous said...

Does the LG Ultimate 2 allow moving apps to the SD card? This is an important feature on these low end phones with limited memory. My LG Optimus Dynamic 2 allows it for some apps, but the Samsung Galaxy Centura does not.

Anonymous said...

I have just placed the order on QVC and it is per-ordered and it says the approximate arrival date will be 11/11. So I wonder why QVC doesn't have them but I could have ordered it from Tracfone's website and gotten it earlier.

QVC has a good deal since you are getting may more things than just the phone, like different trial programs and 1200 bucket minutes.

Hoody said...

yeah I assume it will be a big improvement for you.

I like this one too, but will wait to see if the LG Volt makes it to TF, I'm also waiting to see what TF will do when the new Android OS comes out (Lollipop) V 5 and IF they will be able to update these latest phones. This one is one of the better phones for us non apple types lol. that pretty much just need a "phone" and not some portable gaming machine.

Kitkat 4.4 seems to have some sort of problem being able to move apps to the SD card to make room, (some google security tthing) however on this Ult 2 (41c) you do have at least 4g + to use on phone, so it may be enough for most people that don't need/use a lot of these apps, since some stuff can be moved and placed on the SD card, like pics and music and videos.

QVC Just offered the LG L41C Ultimate 2 with 1200 minutes of talk included in a $129.96 package that includes a case and auto charger. This is probably the 400 minute card with the triple minutes for life. http://www.qvc.com/EMAIL.product.E226810.html?promo=RH8

I ordered Tuesday night and got it Thursday morning, the estimated delivery date was still over a week from now! It might depend where you live

Hoody said...

Yeah, that sucks that they won't allow these "newer" Androids to be updated.

I like the screen on the Moto E, but not the fact it has a non removable battery, no flash, and no front camera. I think the G does, so yeah if you find a good deal on ebay it might work for you.

I'm still holding out for a while yet on an Android OS phone, not in any real hurry, I have all I need right now with my simi smart 306G, it does the job, "make calls" and since its Java, I'm not concerned about any updating.

I'll keep eye out on the Volt, to see if this also makes it to TF under some other name, maybe by that time the OS will be updateable.

Quotes from above:

The LG Ultimate 2 comes with Android 4.4 OS, a 5MP camera with autofocus, 1 GB RAM and uses Verizon 3G networks. It will also have a 4.5" screen, which will make many Tracfone users very excited.

I think the problem that everyone is getting confused and they are thinking quad core, because they are getting it mixed up since the processor is made by QualComm. It is a Qualcomm processor and people were hearing quad core processor. The internet has propagated the mistake.

I just got my phone and I love it. But has anyone been able to find a way to have incoming calls only vibrate and have incoming texts make a notification alert? I have been unable to do that. It is either both make a noise or neither do.

I love this phone, like everything new, there is a learning curve. That being said, I can't find how to assign a speed dial to a contact. anyone know how ? user guide does not address this feature.

1) I went to Tracfone's site to order the Ultimate 2 and they are no longer showing up, I am assuming it's sold out and not sure how quickly they might be back into stock.
2) I checked Best Buy online which said they have them in stock at my local store, went to my local store to purchase and Best Buy has them listed incorrectly on the website, the one they had was for Straight Talk but the item # on the website is the item # for the Straight Talk phone, maybe that explains why the specs are different on Best Buy and Tracfone's websites.
3) Went ahead and ordered three off QVC on waitlist, would like to get by Christmas for the kids...I have no experience with QVC though, here's hoping!

However, with most apps you can move the bigger elements OF the app to an SD card, like with The Simpsons: Tapped Out you can move the huge majority of the app to the SD card... just not the app itself.

There are probably ways around it with rooting and things like that, but I never bother with it myself.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, it's nice. BUT... from what I understand, it's a one way street. Once you do that, you're not going to be sending those back to a phone that isn't a smart phone.

I COULD be wrong of course, someone will hopefully chime in who knows 100% for sure.

Anonymous said...

Oddly enough, they don't have either this OR the Alcatel on their site anymore... at least with my zip code.

Though there is a reconditioned Optimus Fuel for 40 bucks. It's the single best smartphone on the service listed for me. But damn... I was really wanting that Ultimate 2.

It's not even on the shelf at my local Best Buy anymore, though it was there 2 weeks ago.

Does this phone connect to 5 ghz wi-fi or just the 2.4?

Yep Tracfone took them off their site. QVC has a long waiting list I was told. best Buy website said they were in stock at my 2 stores. Nope notta. They didnt have a clue even when i brought the print out in.. Only for Straighttalk.

Anonymous said...

Since this is essentially the same phone as Verizon's LG Exceed 2, has anyone checked to see if the Exceed 2 is eligible for Tracfone's BYOP program?

Anonymous said...

If you take a look at LG's website, this overall form factor for phones of this ilk is very, very common... and there's one key difference between this and the Exceed 2 from what I understand. The Exceed 2 lacks a front facing camera.

As far as the Exceed 2 being eligible, the way Verizon's prepaid phones work, they aren't open to move to something like Straight Talk or TracFone until they've been used on Verizon for 6 months.

Just found some Tracfone LG Ultimate 2s on ebay! Seller is shopcelldeals go to their store and search LG Ultimate 2 and a few pop up. I ordered mine, good luck!

Anonymous said...

My local Best Buy store had no idea what I was asking for? Never heard of it. Not even a shelf for it!

shopcelldeals also has the Ultimate 2 on sale on his Amazon site. http://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-Android-Prepaid-Minutes-Tracfone/dp/B00PG0D3GW/ref=sr_1_12?m=AUEOHHAEXZDCI&s=merchant-items&ie=UTF8&qid=1415684775&sr=1-12

I was able to snagged one there.

Thats because it was an error. Best Buy has now come out in public and acknowledged the error. They do not carry or ever had carried the LG L41c Ultimate 2 Tracfone models. It was Net 10's version. Their website now confirms that.

Word of slight warning... Don't get it at bestbuy... or atlesat, be very wary. Twice have I ordered one , first time site to store and then site to home, both were incorrect phones/carriers. Its either listed completely wrong on their site or they are highly incompetent..or both.

QVC says it's Corning Gorilla Glass. Can someone verify this?

Anonymous said...

So now we need a comparison LG Ultimate 2 vs Moto G

How to decide?

Anonymous said...

Well, hell that's easy. The Moto G blows the Ultimate 2 away in almost every conceivable way. It's more powerful (dual core on the U2, quad core on the G), a MUCH higher screen resolution (800x400 vs 1280x720), better cameras that can actually record in HD (the U2 only records video at 840x480).

EXCEPT for the fact that the Moto G doesn't have an SD Card slot. That's the only area where the Ultimate 2 beats it out... and for someone like me who keeps all their music and books on the SD card it isn't really a viable option despite the nice specs.

So between the two it mainly comes down to the SD Card. Are you willing to sacrifice the space for nice specs? On both phones you're going to have around 5GB of available space to work with on the device itself... unless something changed when the U2 went from Straight Talk to TracFone. I've only used it on Straight Talk.

But on the Ultimate 2 you have the choice to expand that space with a 32GB SD card.

Anonymous said...

The ultimate 2 can use 64GB SD cards, as well.

Anonymous said...

I wouldn't know. If I remember correctly the box for the Straight Talk one just says it'll go up to 32GB.

Though I could be mistaken.

Still, 32 or 64 gigs... unfortunately you just aren't adding that to the Moto G. hehe

Anonymous said...

I have heard the Ultimate 2 would take 64GB too but I have not be able to confirm. I saw something about it on the Howard Forums but no one responded about actually doing it.

Anonymous said...

So the processor is faster, the camera can record in HD, and the screen resolution is higher. OK. Except for the idea that a phone might be used for recording and watching video, why would the Moto G be better as a phone than the Ultimate 2, or as a Google app device using a 3G network?

Take high end video out of the picture and tell me why this will work better as a phone.

Anonymous said...

I bought one from shopcelldeals on amazon for $114 w/ free shipping and received it last Friday. So far I would say it's a great phone. The phone has 5GB internal memory available; additionally I'm using a 32GB Micro SDHC and have had no issues with it what so ever. The Android KitKat 4.4 OS works well and has a lot of nice features. With the auto-focus camera I can now scan bar-codes and QR codes quickly, which is great for using with apps like myfitnesspal. The phone does have Triple Minutes for Life in separate buckets for Talk Minutes, Texts and Data; I transferred my number and minutes from a LG 800G TracFone without issue. My only gripe is that the free/bonus minutes on my previous phone did not transfer; hence I lost out on the promo/bonus airtime I had. Other than that; this Android phone is well worth the price for those not looking to get the most cutting edge device that makes for a very good TracFone upgrade or first Android phone.

Anonymous said...

Well, that's why I worded my reply the way I did. They're both fine devices for the money.

It's just all about what you want. They'll both work great as a phone.

I can give you my personal thoughts, though.

I'm personally getting the Tracfone variant of the Ultimate 2 over a used/unlocked Moto G because I need that extra space. I'm in the car for about 4 to 5 hours a morning, so I listen to a lot of audio books and podcasts, not to mention the 8 or 9 gigs of music I've got stashed away on the memory card... so the lack of space on the Moto G wouldn't really work out for me personally. Sure, I COULD steam all that stuff over 3G, but with Tracfone that would get expensive very quickly, so I figure if I don't have to why should I?

I don't really do any major mobile gaming (Mahjong, Dragon Quest 1 and 2 and Ghostbusters Pinball are literally the only games I have installed, and they run perfectly on either device) so that's kind of a non issue for me.

Now, if what I stated wasn't an issue and I had them both in front of me to choose from right now? I'd honestly probably go with the Moto G.

They both offer a smooth experience to use, though the Moto G has a bit of an advantage in the fact that it's quite simply more powerful. Not that the Ultimate 2 is a dog in any way whatsoever of course.

Oh, another difference between the two now that I think of it, depending on how important this is to you, the battery isn't user replaceable on the Moto G.

Well... I'd imagine you COULD replace the battery. But it's not replaceable in the sense that you just pop the back cover and take it out. heh

But in the end "...tell me why this will work better as a phone." when used "as a phone" they're both going to provide pretty much the exact same experience. They're both going to make calls, they're both going to send texts. Call quality? I have no idea one way or the other... I'm not that picky about it. As long as I can understand the person I'm talking to and they can understand me, fine.

When I get my Ultimate 2 it'll finish out my total switch to Tracfone.

I talk for MAYBE 20 or 30 minutes in an entire month, and send maybe 50ish texts... and even that's offset by having the Freedompop app installed for when I'm at home on Wifi. With my Tracfone plan as of right now the way I use the phone... I MIGHT have to buy a data card or two between now and August of 2015. lol

Unknown said...

David...where is all over here?

Anonymous said...

I only have a 32GB. If I had a 64GB I'd be the first to confirm whether it works or not right here. lol

Anonymous said...

I went from the Java LG800 phone to the ZTE Valet and have been unimpressed with the call quality, the poor wifi (never turn it on), and the phone simply gets buggy and has to be rebooted often. It takes forever to load a map etc. So I guess I'll be going back to LG and hope this phone solves these problems.

Sure wish it was on a Black Friday list!

Hi, got my U2 today. Very nice phone. I see a number of folks asking if it is Gorilla Glass? I'm not sure how to tell, but I'm gonna say no, it is not. I have a Google Nexus 4 and the surface on that phone is smoother and more solid, while the U2 feels like plastic. That said, the screen is very nice, bright, responsive to the touch.

Unknown said...

That is for "Net10" at Best Buy they don't have the Tracfone yet

If you watch the presentation @ QVC.com for this phone, they say it has Gorilla Glass as she takes her diamond ring across the front of the phone to show it won't scratch...they could be wrong, I don't know.

I've had my LG Ultimate 2 for a week now and I must say that I'm very impressed. It's very fast and responsive. I had been using Smart Launcher Pro on my other phone so I went ahead and put it on this one. So, I haven't used the stock launcher yet. With Smart Launcher it's very fast. So far I have no complaints about it. I would highly recommend this phone, if you can find one. I got mine off of eBay for $119.00 with free shipping. They seem to be hard to find. I can see why. It's a great phone for a great price!

I got my LG L41C also. The specs says it's gps enabled, what is that mean? I downloaded a gps status, but it says that the GPS is OFF. Does this device have GPS where you can use for turn by turn navigation while driving?Having GPS was one of the big consideration for buying this one.

I tried to order the 9.99 LG Fuel from both Kmart and Sears with no luck, the order was canceled by them after it was placed. Then I looked at the links for shopcelldeals on Ebay and the LG Ultimate 2 with 1200 minutes was priced at 129.99 not 199.99 so that's what I've gone for. As I'll need another year sooner or later the phone only cost me $25!

Unknown said...

I ordered mine from ShopCellDeals on Thanksgiving morning, the next morning I got an emails saying it was shipped, should be here by Tuesday...$129.99, 1200 min.,1 yr., so the phone was like $30, I think that is pretty good.

OK. Have a ZTE Valet, and want to get all the apps and data transferred to the LG L141C. How do I do this? I've never setup a backup before also.

Bruce Wayne said...

I also broke down and ordered one from Shop cell Deals. ...my Valet is useless, to me or as a resell, since it just Dies every couple of days--such a waste of time and money...fingers crossed that the LG is better!
As for apps...they Should all be stored in the cloud on the app sites where you 'got' them, to install on your new phone, if compatible. I hope!

Unknown said...

I would say if you don't have a gmail account set one up, do a backup on your ZTE using that account, when you start up the Ultimate 2 the first thing is it will as you to sign in to your gmail account and then it will transfer all your info... if I don't have this correct, please let me know. Thanks.

Is the Ultimate 2 worth the extra $20 over the Moto e?

Anonymous said...

My personal opinion? Yes.

While they both have the same processor and the same amount of RAM, the only thing the Moto E has over the Ultimate 2 is a somewhat higher screen resolution (960x540 vs the U2's 800x400). And, apparently it has cornering Gorilla Glass. I'm not sure if the Ultimate 2 has that or not to be perfectly honest.

The U2's rear 5MP shooter has autofocus and flash, and it as a 1.3MP front facing camera. All of which the Moto E lacks. The U2 has double the space at 8GB (with around 5GB of user storage vs The Moto E's 4GB with around 2GB of user storage) as well as a (slightly) larger screen at 4.5" vs the Moto E's 4.3"

The video recording capabilities on both units aren't all that great, though. The U2 records at 800x480 and the Moto E records at 854x480.

But, yeah. Me personally, I'll sacrifice a little bit of screen resolution for more space and the extra camera capabilities. For me, without autofocus, it'd be a bitch and a half to scan things like barcodes to do price checking and whatnot.

If you want to give the phone a try, just head up to Walmart, buy the Straight Talk version of it and give it a try.

Or if you want a cheaper "try it out" option, the LG Optimus Exceed 2 for Verizon prepaid is ALMOST identical to the Ultimate 2. It only has 4GB of space and doesn't have the front facing camera, but it IS otherwise identical and is only about 60 bucks.

You don't need to activate them (though you will have to dig through Google to get past the activation screen unless someone here can tell you) to just try them out.

Just make sure you keep all the packaging and the receipt and you shouldn't have any problems returning it after you're done trying it out.

Anonymous said...

Yes, it's worth it for the auto focus camera and flash, which the Moto E does not have, as well as both front and rear facing cameras.

Unknown said...

the Presentation Video on QVC.com say it does have Gorilla Glass, all the phones that are suppose to be the same phone i.e., LG Realm, Verizon Pre Paid (LG Exceed 2), Metro PCS prepaid (LG Optimus L70) all state they have Gorilla Glass, why would they change it for the Ultimate? Tracfone has the specs on there phone screwed up, guess they don't have a proof reader!

Unknown said...

I ordered mine from shopcelldeals on Ebay $129.99 includes 1200 mins., 1 yr. card, delivered quickly, the card alone is $99 so you are paying $30 for the phone, when I transferred my Centura it added abut 6 mos. of extra time before I have to even apply my 1200 minutes... this phone leaves my Galaxy Centura in the dust. Very happy so far! KitKat has OK Google, it is similar to Siri on the iPhone, nice feature.

I have a LG L39C as my first Smart Tracfone. I got free/bonus/promo minutes, text and data when purchased at HSN. A great entry level smartphone. WILL all my min, data, text transfer to the new L41C ? If have read here that one person had this issue. Can anyone confirm the situation ?

yes you can. i have transferred many new Tracfones with minutes/days from older Tracfones. Had issue once. Called Tracfone, and was resolved in short order.

The lg 2 ultimate sounds great, but I am leery of trying another tracfone android. I bought an lg fuel this summer, but could not activate it even though it says on Tracfone's website that it would work in my rural area. I drove over 100 miles trying to activate it, but never got more than one bar even standing right in front of Verizon towers. I had to return the phone and go back to my non android Samsung Tracfone.

Anonymous said...

I bought the L39C from HSN in September and got 1200 min/texts/mb of data. I upgraded to the L41C tonight. I did it all online, and all of my buckets transferred correctly in less than 5 minutes. Then I added the 1200 min/texts/mb of data pin that came with the L41C, and it almost immediately added that to the buckets. Plus it added 8 months of service time. So I have over 2000 in all my buckets and my service time ends in May of 2017!

I happen to catch the L41C on QVC last week with free shipping so ended up only paying $7 more than my husband when he got it as a TSV. After he got his, I had major phone envy so was glad when they did the free shipping promotion. I wanted to order it from QVC, because if I got a defective phone, they have the best return policy with no worries, and you don't have to pay for return shipping.

You will love the L41C compared to the L39C...the size of the screen, the speed...everything...

TracFone will accept promo codes for the LG Ultimate 2. I bought one a few days ago; called Tracfone to add it to my account and was able to use code 76374 - 300 bonus minutes for the 400 minutes card.

I received the LG Ultimate 2 as a gift for Christmas, so it is brand new to me. Still learning the basic features of it, but it will not receive a text message that is a picture message. Is this something that needs to be addressed in the settings of the phone or with StraightTalk, which is who I have service with?

Anonymous said...

For those asking about Gorilla Glass, LG's own website says the Ultimate 2 does have it: http://www.lg.com/us/cell-phones/lg-L41C-ultimate-2

Anonymous said...

To receive a picture in a text message, make sure that your data is either on or that you have a signal. A cell phone signal is different from data as you can turn the data off and still make calls and whatnot.

Outside of that, I really don't know what to tell you. hehe

Anonymous said...

Weird. My CDMA LG Optimus Fuel works awesomely as far as getting a signal. It's not my main phone currently, but it is sitting around as a backup or when I forget to charge my main phone. Which happens often. lol

Are you sure that you got a Verizon version of the phone? Does it say CDMA in one of the lower corners of the box?

In my case around here, they DO sell pre-paid phones that use Sprint towers despite the fact that Sprint is borderline worthless around here with regards to getting a signal for much of anything.

Anonymous said...

I've had mine for about 2 weeks now and really love it! It's super easy to use. I found out the hard way about needing to have data enabled to receive picture messages. What I'm having trouble with now is sending email replies. I can receive my emails, but whenever I try to send one, it works on it for a very long time, then it fails. If anyone has a clue about that, I'd really appreciate hearing from you!

Anonymous said...

If ANY of their smartphones work in your area, it will too since they all use the same Verizon network. Just be sure you see smartphones, not feature phones like the LG 840G that still have a touchscreen interface.

I have this phone haven't officially activated it yet, probably later today, but have been using it for wifi and so far so good. I'm a first time smartphone user and it's been fairly easy to learn. What I'm wondering is does it include an IR port /capability?? I haven't yet been able to ascertain this information..

Anonymous said...

That would be a negative.

You CAN use apps to control things over WiFi.

Like, for instance, if you have a Roku or a Chromecast... or even use that Chromecast capability on your computer, like pulling up a YouTube video on your phone and outputting it to the computer's display.

But an IR port? No.

I'm curious about using my Tracfone overseas. I already know I won't have any cell service even in Canada. However, if I have wifi available, can I send and receive text messages over the wifi to and from my Tracfone number?

I already know how to use Skype, and I'm aware of the various "free texting" services, but they give you a fake phone number to use. I'd rather use my own phone number. If not possible, I'll continue using Skype.

I have been TF user for # of years, went from the flip to LG 800 to the LG 840, and overall pleased, basic need is for occasional phone and text. A 120 min card with 3X minutes lasts me 1-1/2 months. Internet not really needed for me during day, but would like to check radar occasionally when working by myself, most of the time, I have a partner that can do that on one of the other carriers.

I have a question: Does the LG U2 do voice texting? I noticed that it does voice calling. It seems most of the time my boss texts me while driving. I don't like to even talk on phone while driving, let lone text. I will read a quick text (at least it's not a newspaper or novel). I wait until it's safe to respond, sometimes that means pulling over somewhere (that being an inconvenience).

The LG U2 seems to be the better TF Android out there that I have been reading reviews/comments on for a couple of months from all over and haven't found out this question or was missed. Hope some one can help me out on which one does if the LG U2 doesn't. :-)

Anonymous said...

I noticed the L41C has voice calling, does it have "Voice Texting"??

Anonymous said...

There are apps that do that, this is what I found in a quick and dirty Google search.

http://lifehacker.com/5850802/text-by-voice-for-android-reads-incoming-sms-messages-aloud-sends-them-using-your-voice

It may very well do it out of the box, but since I don't have the phone anymore (I used it on Straight Talk, but now I'm on Tracfone) I can't check for myself. I know it doesn't have that capability on the LG Optimus Fuel, which is functionally much the same as the U2.

But since I have no use for it, there's no reason for me to hunker down and dig up a way to do it. heh

Anonymous said...

Yes - the built-in LG app Voice Command allows you to send a voice text. Tap the app and a list of voice command options appears in a pop-up box. When you hear the verbal cue "Say A Command" say "send text to" and the name of the person in your contact lists. You alternately can send a text to a given phone number.

After two out-of-box failures of the Alcatel Onetouch Pop Icon (bought the week it came out), I returned it and exchanged for the LG Ultimate 2. As a first-time smartphone user, I've been happy with how intuitive most of the features of the Ultimate 2 seem to be for a non-tech-savvy older user. The only major thing I can't figure out is why it sometimes flashes green (the bottom button flashes twice, then pauses, then flashes twice, etc. No messages or incoming texts). Handy size, camera seems to work well. Wish it had an automatic Facebook interface, as the Alcatel did. Took me a while to figure out how to post to FB from the phone. I like the voice recorder and voice command features, too. I didn't like the way the volume and off/on buttons are directly across from each other (meaning when I tried to turn it off with one hand, I messed up my volume instead), but putting it in one of the "tuff" cases solved that, as the raised buttons on the sides now actually make it easier to use those button features.

Vicki said...

I use the charger USB to transfer phone photos to my desktop.

Vicki said...

I don't recall the pricing, but it's not high -- Tracfone offers a global upgrade card.

Vicki said...

There is a link in the article above (near the end) to cases. I got one of the "tuff" ones from Phonelicious and am very happy with it. The rubberized button covers actually are easier to push than the phone's own inset buttons.

Vicki said...

It says it does. Haven't tried it yet. I am pretty sure all Tracfones now have unlimited carryover, according to their site.

Just a note on the BYOP - I wanted to transfer my husband's hand-me-down-to-me Samsung Galaxy S3 to my account but TF said I couldn't because it has a SIM card (or because it doesn't? Can't remember - but they couldn't program the phone). (You can tell I know little about how phones work - this is my first smartphone -- as you can tell. But I remember I couldn't transfer it - so ask before you buy a phone just to use on the tF plan.) I do like the U2 just fine.

Vicki said...

I may be mistaken, but I think GPS off/on has to do with you being trackable. A lot of apps need to know where you are to work, but some folks don't like Big Brother watching....

Yes, it will accept micro SDHC cards. The specs say it will accept up to 32 GB but I'm using a micro SDXC 64GB card in my Ultimate 2.

I recently got both the LG Ultimate 2 and Alcatel Onetouch Pop Icon, and the LG Ultimate 2 is much better than the Alcatel One Touch Pop Icon.

I like the screen size and the loud/clear speakers of the Alcatel, but there are two major flaws with that phone. Every Youtube video I've played studders/skips every 10 seconds (audio plays fine but video freezes for 1 sec). This also happens in some games I've tried (Real Racing 3 and Tengai) so it's not an internet connection problem, but a fault with the phone's hardware. It's the main issue that keeps me from wanting to use it. The other major drawback is that there is only about 2GB of usable storage space and you can't move apps to the microSD card. The front facing camera is blurrier than LG. There are also less customization options and features than the LG.

I ended up giving the Alcatel to my father since he is less experienced with phones, and it has the simple mode GUI and louder speakers. Then gave the LG to my mother and bought another LG for myself. We were both using the Samsung Galaxy Centura and this is a huge upgrade from that. Not saying that the Alcatel is bad (it is better than previous Tracfone phones), but the LG Ultimate 2 is better.

Yeah, so far at least with the Tracfone *branded* phones the U2 is the best period.

The only one I've heard of that comes close is the BYOP device, the Moto G... and that one is hampered by the fact it doesn't have an SD Card slot. Not a bad phone by any means, but it just wouldn't do me any good due to the limited space and only being around 30 bucks cheaper than the U2. heh

I just got this phone and I love it! It's easy to use, great camera and a good size screen.

Does the LG Ultimate 2 have a ir blaster? it probably doesnt but it would be pretty nifty if it did

LG L41C - things I've discovered that are not documented in the manual:

Home Screen - Add a 5th or 6th Quick Keys icon
-Add Extra Icons to Home-Screen Quick-Keys Row (Bottom row of unchanging icons on all Home Screen panels)
The Quick Keys come with 4 icons by default, but there is room and you can drag a 5th or 6th icon into the Quick Keys row. The icons will shrink slightly with addition of the 5th and text will disappear with addition of the 6th icon. Add things like the camera icon or maybe that second texting application icon, etc. You can also create folders holding multiple icons on the Quick Keys icon row.

-Quickly Select Default Home Screen (the screen that appears when the "Home Screen" button is pressed) or add an additional blank Home Screen Panel.
From any Home Screen Panel - Pinch-To-Zoom Out on that Home Screen Panel. "Set Default Home Screen" appears.
This screen shows down-sized versions of all of the Home Screen Panels. Touch one of them to set it as the default Home Screen .
You can also add additional blank Home Screen Panels by pressing the blank Home Screen Panel that displays a plus (+) sign.

-Contacts List (If you are getting phantom contacts added, double entries, contacts with no phone number, etc) Prevent Phantom Contact List Entries:
The Contacts List is set up, by default, to add contacts from other sources (G-mail contacts, Facebook contacts, other e-mail list contacts, etc). To turn off this "feature" and use only contacts you have entered into the phone, On the Home Screen, Select: Contacts icon, Press Menu Key, Settings, Contacts To Display, Select "Phone", Press Back Key several times to exit.

No, it doesn't have one.

Although there are apps that act as a remote over Wifi like for Roku and Windows apps and whatnot.

Any info for editing contacts in LG41c? Not able to change anything! When in contacts and then settings, the "edits" for contacts appears to be disabled even though it's checked (this area has a lighter highlighted area). Thanks

Nicest phone I have ever had, but I've only had push button Tracfones. When I got my LG Ultimate 2 phone a few days ago I could talk to text...now the voice icon is gone and I can't do that anymore. Anyone know why?

Is there any way to turn off the blinking light? I keep the phone by my bed at night at night and the light is so bright it lights up the whole room.

Are the LG's Ultimate 2 and L70 basically the same phone?

Considering an LG Ultimate 2 or Alcatel Onetouch ICON Pop. Can they both use or have a turn by turn GPs navigation ability? Either installed or by app. download. This is my first smartphone attempt.

This is the way it works on my LG Optimus Fuel, and it's got the same type of home button light. Go to Settings then Display. If it's the same as mine, it'll be at the bottom under Home Button LED.

If not, there it's there in the settings somewhere under Home Button LED or Notification Light or something like that.

Any smartphone you get will have that capability built in with pre-installed apps.

Im thinking about getting this phone from amazon, the deal includes 1200 mins/t/d for $130. Ive ordered from qvc/hsn before where they give a promotional code to use when you call to redeem to get the tf 400 min code that triples. Does anyone know how this works with the amazon 1200 minutes deal? Is there an expiration on the redeem period? If I order it now but they ran the 1200 bonus promo a few months ago and when I try to redeem it they will not honor it as the time frame has passed even though the site still lists it?

Im not a big phone user, currently using a lg dynamic and its kinda getting a bit long in the tooth. Thought about the moto g also but the 1200/1yr deal is a lot better.

I turn the phone over so that the face in 'face-down'.

Make sure your speak to text option is still on inside your settings. If it is still on and if it is like my LG Optimus hold down the settings button (gear looking button next to space bar) on the keyboard when getting ready to text and the secondary button will show the microphone. Press the microphone and it will work again.

Does anyone know if you can use the "SQUARE" credit card reader with this phone?

Yes you can. I bought this phone specifically to use with square and it works great.

I imported Contacts from Facebook on the LG Ultimate 2 and discovered that I am unable to edit these contacts. There is no way to add an address, change a phone number, etc. I went to TracFone's site and used LiveChat to find out if I was missing something, but I wasn't. The only way you can edit a contact is to add it manually. NOT GOOD!

On the LG Ultimate 2, is there a way to turn off/on the cellular data usage so that you only use wifi? I don't want my phone using up the little data reserves I have while away from wifi until I need it.

Anonymous said...

In your home screen, just drag your finger down from the top.

One of the buttons up there will say "Data". Tap that to turn it on and off. That's the quickest way to do it.

Can i use the 1 year card with this phone LG Ultimate 2

How is this phone for running apps? I want to use an app called iBird that uses a large amount of space for bird calls. Has anyone had any experience with this. Also what about using a navigation app? Do they work on this phone?

Anonymous said...

It's run every app I've come across just fine. that app called iBird... if it uses a large amount of space for bird calls, it's most likely on the SD Card so there wouldn't be any worries there unless you just don't like to use SD Cards for some reason.

Looking at an app called "iBird Pro North America" in the app store (I guess that's the app you're referring to?) it says it requires at least 675MB of space. The available space on the phone just by itself is more than adequate for that.

One of the reviews reads as follows for this app: "Very polished and excellent overall, but there really doesn't seem to be any good reason to make me keep *both* the download file and the extracted data (~1.5GB). Especially when there is no provision made to allow for moving the extracted data off of my packed to the limit internal 16GB memory and on to my spacious 128GB microSD card."

Even with that... this phone has around 5GB of available space on the phone. So even with what this guy is talking about, there's enough space.

Unless that isn't the app you were referring to, then all my whole 2 minutes of research on it was wasted. hehe

Navigation is part of Android, so any phone running Android with GPS the navigation is going to work. I can't think of ANY modern phone from a major company like LG that doesn't have GPS, so yeah.

That, and I've used the GPS on this phone before so I know damned well it works. ;)

I've seen a notice at the bottom of my screen sometimes, if I try to increase the brightness passed 80%. It complains that the temperature would get too high. I'm not sure that this is due to the Internet connection, or just do to the outside air temperature. Since I see your post was in January, I'm somewhat confused. I just received my phone, and it is near 90 degrees here. Is there an APP to show the phone's temperature?

The article says that you cannot add just texts--that you have to add a regular minutes card, which adds minutes, data and texts. Is that still true? I am seeing on the tracfone site that you can purchase special cards, "Only for Smartphones," and one of the cards is 1,000 texts for $10. Also, if this is a positive change, does anyone know if I can buy those 1000 texts from tracfone even if I purchase my LG Ultimate 2 from Amazon? Thank you.

TracfoneReviewer Team said...

Thanks for pointing that out, adding text only cards is newly available from Tracfone, and this post needs to be corrected. You should have no problem adding a text card to your smartphone, even if you bought it through a different retailer.

Can a phone number be blocked on the Ultimate 2? I can't figure it out, if you can. Any help will be appreciated.

I think there's an app that'll do it. Though I can't remember specifically what it's called. Just search through the app store some for something.

I have 2 questions re LG41C:
When I try to install a news app I get a message "No Carrier" but I want to use it with WiFi. How do I change that?
How do I keep the "all apps" icon on the home screen?
Thanks. New to Android but like LG41C after only 10 days.

Anonymous said...

First one. Make sure Wifi is actually turned on. Just drag from the top of the screen to get to the notifications and you'll see it at the top.

Second. The "All Apps" icon should just be in the dock at the bottom of the screen where it can always be accessed no matter which home screen you're on.

I know this is old post but I haven't seen a reply. I just got this phone and had the same trouble finding the speed dial settings. I finally found it in Contacts, under the context-sensitive menu key (to the right of the Home button). From that menu, select "Speed dial", select the speed dial entry you want to program and then select a contact. Hope this helps someone.

This may be related to the roaming comment above, but I figured out Verizon is the carrier for my phone and I get no reception at our WI cottage. Like zero. My wife has a Tracfone (non-smart) and has ATT as the carrier and gets plenty of reception. Any ideas?

Anonymous said...

I have not seen this problem posted here. Screens won't swipe. All entries must be triple tapped. Extremely frustrating to use. Am I missing something??

I own a ZTE Valet. It will not hold a Wifi signal unless you are within 5 feet of the router. I went back to my old phone. I hope the LG Ultimate 2 is better than the ZTE Valet.

Anonymous said...

Does it take minutes off Data when taking pictures for your Gallery on my LG Ultimate 2 ?

Ron K said...

I concur with Scott Kerns. Although my ZTE Valet held a Wifi signal at a greater distance that 5 feet from the router, it definitely could not match signal strength of other cell phones I owned. It was always a chore to find a strong enough Wifi signal to produce consistent results. The LG Ultimate 2 has a much better Wifi receiver and can easily match the best of phones for signal strength.

Is the phone battery replaceable?

Anonymous said...

As of this writing, there isn't a *Tracfone branded* phone that doesn't have a replaceable battery.

Anonymous said...

Of course not. Why would it?

It will take data if you send them to someone or otherwise use the internet with them. But taking them with the camera? Again, why would it. lol

Anonymous said...

Maybe you got a lemon or something. I'd be exchanging it because while it's not exactly a speed demon it's definitely a solid performer for the price.

I just tried a side by side test at a somewhat out there in the woods VT cottage. My ancient Nokia candybar Tracfone works fine. No connect with my L41C, I think the carrier is Verizon, I've traveled to a big city with my L41C and it worked there when I needed it to, so it will roam but there is something else going on with it. I opened two tracfone website "buy" windows, one for my primary location and a second for the cottage location. Indeed, tracfone doesn't list the L41C for the cottage location so that confirms my findings. The odd thing, however, is there are no phones listed as working in both my primary and secondary locations (even those with a "C" - for CDMA - in the phone name). I had assumed a 3G CDMA Verizon phone would work a throughout the Verizon network. Not the case , apparently. Looks like I'm not only going keep that Nokia candybar going but carrying it with me along with the L41C. Great! Two phones! Am I becoming a phone nerd?

Are owners of the LG ultimate 2 reporting any problems with it pocket dialing 911 or any other numbers like many other tf's have been doing?

Please note that as of several months ago Tracfone now DOES offer adding extra texts only options to their smartphones at 1,000 texts for $10. However I'm unaware if any of them are USB OTG ready as of this date. The Samsung Galaxy Stardust is not.

Can anyone tell me how to setup my email acct on the lg ultimat 2 lg241c?

Anonymous said...

I understand that the ultima 2 will split text messages. But mine is also displaying them out of order AND duplicating them. The duplication only occurs on long text messages. Is there a way to fix this?

Anonymous said...

Same here...No ring, vibration, or any notification when a group text comes in. Also, phone automatic switches to SILENT every time I power off and on.
