List of Android Tracfone Devices with Reviews and Comparison (2015)
Last updated June 2015.Compare Android Tracfone Devices! |
Tracfone is now fully embracing Android smartphone devices and sells a variety of different phones. Each of the phones have different features, pro's and con's, that can be hard to evaluate fully.
TracfoneReviewer is here to help with this list of Android devices that includes a quick comparison of each phone, and links to our full reviews.
We wanted to create a resource for consumers who were looking at buying an Android phone from Tracfone and provide a clear list of the phones, with comparison details. This list is for your convenience, and we hope that it will make for an easier decision.
Let's start with a basic but important question:
What are Android phones and how are they different from other Tracfone devices? Well. this is a question we have answered with a full article which you can read by following the link above . This is an important question to understand, and you should decide before proceeding further, if an Android phone is what you need.
The basic answer to the question is that an Android device is a phone that uses a common operating system, called Android, which allows users to have access to thousands of applications on Google Play.
Android phones are usually refereed to as smartphones, or Android smartphones, because of their increased functionality. They almost all have large touchscreens, and can do many things you would normally only be able to do on a computer such as browsing the web, checking email, surfing social media, and getting GPS directions.
Tracfone has recently begun allowing many different phones to be added to their prepaid service through a program called Tracfone BYOP. You can learn more about the variety of devices you can use, including 3G and 4G LTE capable smartphones, on our Tracfone BYOP page.
Well, let's get to the list of Android devices offered by Tracfone.
List of Tracfone Android Smartphones with Specs and Comparison
We will include every Android device from Tracfone in this list, with information about each phone that you can compare to the others to choose the best one to fit your needs. This list is in no particular order, but generally has the newer phones at the bottom, and we will continue to update it as Tracfone releases new phones. Leave a comment if we miss anything, or if you see a phone that is not included here.

Any indication when Tracfone will add the Samsung Galaxy Ace Style to their line up?? My current phone is broken, and I am trying to hang on long enough to purchase this model. Weeks? Months? Appreciate the heads up.
Unfortunately we don't know, it could be weeks or even months.
same situation
Hey Peter, does the lg Optimus Fuel have a better GPU than the ace style? I heard that the ace style GPU is crap, and the cpu's in both are not good, but alot better than the previous line up
This might be a silly question, but do these Android phones use the Verizon network. I'm in a rural area and use cellphones with a "C" next to the model (LG 505C), thus it uses Verizon which is the only carrier that covers our area. Therefore I cannot use other carriers. Thanks for your time!
Yes, all the Android phones with Tracfone currently use Verizon towers.
They both have duel core 1.2 ghz processors and I can't find much more information beyond that. LG and Samsung are both good brands usually.
If you want to look up LG Optimus Fuel on phone arena. It's labeled as LG L40.
http://www.phonearena.com/phones/LG-L40_id8418
Have a ZTE valet and the wifi is horrible. Not only the wifi but the calls get dropped a lot. Waiting for either LG fuel or Samsung Ace. The Dynamic II seems like a good phone I just cant wait!!
Is there any type of Android phone that runs on the AT&T towers?
Any idea when the samsung ace will be out....2014....early 2015? That will be huge for tracfone
Do any of these new phones include multiple minutes (double minutes , triple minutes, etc)
which automatically give you a multiple of the number of minutes purchased based upon the particular phone?
Yes, all of them do.
You should know that Best Buy does not or has ever offered the LG L41c Ultimate 2 in any of it stores for Tracfone. They have updated their website to correct the error.
The only reliable service we get in my area is U.S. Cellular. Do any of these phones run off of these towers?
Is the LG Ultimate II still available at Tracfone? I can't find it on the website.
Moto E is available for sale!

Today's price on the Alcatel onetouch® Pop ICON is $99.99 on Tracfone's site.
Several Tracfone android phones & deals are available at Newegg including the Ultimate 2 and Icon Pop:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100023504%20600548431&IsNodeId=1&name=TracFone
Could someone tell me what phones you can activate with tracfone network access code? Thanks. Like for example, would a Samsung Galaxy S3 work with this?
This would be my first Smartphone, and I'm not sure how to choose. I have a one-year card for my current Tracfone. Can I switch that to a Smartphone, or am I starting all over? We also live in a mostly rural area. I couldn't use the browser on my current phone. What's a good beginner phone for talk, text and minor web use. I want to take and send photos, too.
The lg ultimate 2 is a great phone. No problems here. U should give it a try
Get the lg ultimate 2 its fantastic
I can't get My lgl39c to scan bar codes. Is an autofocus camera the key to scanning bar codes?
too bad the Alcatel Pop 1 is not available for use in my zip code. How can that be if it's a Tracfone? Prefer it to the LG Ultimate 2
I got the Tracfone LG optimus fuel (LG l34c) on black Friday from sears online for only $9.99!!! The 1.2 GHZ dual core processor is fast and snappy. Almost any app on Google play works with the 4.4 kitkat OS. As a photographer I would appreciate if the camera was better. To clarify a controversial point, you CAN move some user-installed apps to the SD card...but not stock out of the box preinstalled apps. Battery life is good for the optimus fuel. I can use the internet on WiFi all day before the battery dies. I haven't used it yet as a phone; only as a $9.99 WiFi device and pocket camera.
Good work Tracfone reviewer, and thanks a million. Without your black Friday $9.99 deal tip, I wouldn't be using the LG optimus fuel at this very moment.
Good day!
I do not see the LG Ultimate 2 or the Alcatel One touch ICON Android phone on the Tracfone web site for purchase. My zip code is 91765. Does that matter for availability?
Tom
You state that "The LG Ultimate 2 is perhaps, at this time (11/2014), the best phone available from Tracfone." Why not the "Alcatel Onetouch ICON Pop"?
A couple phones on the TracFone website are advertised as having "Mobile Web" as one of the features. What is "Mobile Web" and which of the phones you evaluated has that feature? Same question concerning "Voice Activation". Finally, for the ones having GPS capabilities, is there any application for turn-by-turn navigation?
It might, Anon. I looked at the Ultimate 2 on the Wal-Mart site where they have a little applet to let you know if a phone will work in your zip code. Give it a shot.
I'm probably just as frustrated as you are. The U2 was available at TracFone right after Christmas, but now it's not. It's getting to the point where I'll have to check the TF site every day, and as soon as the U2 shows up, it's mine!
The reveiw said "With such a large screen, video on the phone has been reported as slightly choppy at times."
I've had a ZTE valet since April 2014, use wifi whenever it is available (which is most of my usual locations) and have had no problems at all. I only use data when 'on the road.' No problems with dropped calls either but then I use more text than call minutes.
Will be glad when tracfone figures out how to hangle their call - text - data buckets differently so I can just buy text units if that's what I need.
Tracfone will only use Verizon phones for "Bring Your Own Phone."
The zip code thing is not always right. Order from Ebay, after finding out what tower the phone uses.
Hello Peter, thanks for all your due diligence. Do you think Tracfone Android Smartphones will have any GSM phones on the horizon? No Verizon service in my area. Thanks so much.
Nothing in the near future as far as I can tell. Would be nice, and they might do something eventually, but I think it is just easier for them to stick with using Verizon.
hi all! anyone know where i can get a list of non-android tracfones?
I thought I read somewhere that the newer android Tracfones work in any location where Verizon phones work? I called Tracfone and asked for our southwest Iowa location if the LG Ultimate 2 would work in our area and they claimed it would not. Bummer it is well reviewed here. Good camera and plenty of space for aps.
Can an unlocked Lg phone work with Tracfone, so the SIM card can be switched out in Europe?
You can buy a black or white Ultimate II at QVC that work with tracfone. I bought two.
My current LG L34C will often not attach a picture to a text message, failing at the "convert to mmc" stage... does the newer & larger LG L41C do a better job of converting a picture to a message to be able to attach a picture to a text?
My primary function for a new tracfone smartphone is checking EBAY prices at auctions/estate sales etc. What do you think? LG Ultimate vs Moto E vs other choices? thanks
After figuring out how to turn the default "talkback" off (I can see just fine, so don't need the phone telling me every key I press, and requiring a "double tap" to actually activate a key) all is well with my new LG41 - and the process to activate and switch from my old LG34 only took a few minutes on the Tracfone site... so I am happy with my LG41
You may already know this by now but yes you can buy just texts on the tracfone website. I just bought 1000 texts for $10.00.
I just ordered a Android 4.5 smart phone from QVC..I have had a little flip phone for years,it has always been a good reliable phone.Never used a smart phone before. So have a few questions. Is antivirus software included, for internet,or do I have to buy it ?And about how long will a battery charge last?
Are there separate time cards to purchase just for WIFI usage on the Android phones? if you buy a 200 minute card and you have triple for life, my understanding is you get 600 talk, 600 text and 600 WIFI usage. My current (non-Android) Travfone (an LG) eats up minutes like crazy when I browse the web....does the Android eat up big minutes too on the Web? When it refers to Verison account....does that just refer to the towers used or are you actually paying for a Verison account?
TracFone does not, can not, charge you for wifi use. Android has a setting to allow you to not use any data through the cell phone network. That is, if you have wifi available, you need not use any of your data allotment. While on wifi, you can do VOIP calls (such as with Google Hangouts) at no charge.
Yes, I believe you get 600/600/600 on 200 minute cards.
I love my Motorola Moto E except for one thing, and unfortunately it's a big one: the internal memory is full! As a result of all the Google bloatware, plus all the Motorola bloatware, there is scarcely any room for even a modest number of apps. I've moved all the apps, photos and music that I could to the SD card, but the native Mototola & Google ones reside only in internal memory.
I don't know for sure about the Moto E, but with most Androids you can remove unneeded apps under "settings" > "apps". Many, especially if you don't use them, are superfluous. I keep PlayStore and GMail. I usually install FireFox and remove the stock browser. Google Play, Books, etc, can all go if you don't use them.
I had, I think, the first TracFone Android. A Samsung Centura. It was slow and had little extra memory. It would stall and needed to be rebooted frequently. I replaced it with a Alcatel Onetouch ICON Pop for about $100 off of eBay. It has given me little to no trouble. I dropped my land line and it looks like my phone costs will be around $10/month, down from over $40. And, I have internet access almost everywhere if needed though I maximize my use of wifi.
Make sure you have data, MMS uses data to attache pictures
Android is pretty good about keeping viruses out. Make sure you leave the default security in place and never install apps from a third party/questionable source.
WiFi is not metered on any Android phone, you are probably referring to mobile data which is usually 3G. A 200 minute card will give you 600Mb of mobile data.
Walmart now has the LG L15G Sunrise for $55
Best Buy now has the LG L21G and LG L31L for $80 and $100 respectively
Tracfone has finally released a GSM Android I can really use!
Been using Tracfone for long time and love it. Need to finally upgrade, all the phones I'm looking at above say 3g with Verizon, I have had AT&T for my carrier and love it. Will I have to switch to Verizon if I get one of the new phones above?
When is Tracfone going to have iPhones? I would really like to be able to use an iPhone with the savings of having Tracfone!
Do you have any info on the LG Sunset? I've read that it is Tracfone's first 4G LTE product.
The LG Sunset looks very similar to the LG Power except that it has 4G LTE instead of only being 3G. HSN was selling it with a 1200 min/1200 texts/1200 MB Data for $130 on July 22.
What type of glass is used in the LG Sunset? I like my Moto E Gorilla Glass...
I have had a tracfone for years for emergency purposes. It works in my car and most places, but not in my house. Hmmm. No service there and I live in the suburbs. Question, if I upgrade to a cool new phone, will I get better service?
I hope no one has to call tracfone for any help... I tried online to transfer old tracphone flipphone to tracfone smartphone I had activated with no sucess called and got someone who barely spoke english and i had to keep repeating the information. It took about ten minutes and he said the transfer could take up to an hour. nothing ever happened. the next call took a full hour in which the person kept having system errors. Finally she said she had to send me a new sim card in the mail and when I got it to call back. I think I'll just keep the old flip phone and write off the loss of the new smartphone and $20 card rather than go through that again..
Yep, I had a similar experience getting a land line number transferred to my tracfone Android. Online did not work. MANY calls to their voice mail hell. Finally got it done. Then, found that I had lost a bunch of data units in the transfer. More voice mail hell. FINALLY got it all straightened out after expending HOURS on the phone. Not worth the cost. I am happy with the Android and it's functioning on the cell network. You just can't expect any meaningful help from tracphone for any slightly odd problem. No one from tracphone that talks to you on the phone is likely to really know how their system works.
Does the lg sunset have talkback in it so visually impaired people can use it? can you turn on talkback by tripple pressing home or holding down two fingers on the power-on screen?
Watch out for those duel cores as could have a real chuteout happen in yer pocket!
Not true, I brought a Iphone on ATT
Are any of the newer tracfones unlocked? When travelling to Europe, can I switch out the SIM card?
Nope, Tracfone has a very difficult unlocking policy. What you could do is find an unlocked GSM phone and bring it to Tracfone BYOP. You could then also use the phone in Europe. Visit the BYOP page (link in bar at the top of the page) to learn more.
Any idea when a phone with the specs of the LG Sunset will be available using the Verizon Network? I would like a 4G phone on the Verizon Network with Android 5.0 or newer.
HSN also has the Ultimate 2 Tracfone and it comes with a card triple minutes, case and car charger
can any of these tracfones be used for only a camera without buying minutes?
1. Do any of these phones are capable of Wi-Fi Calling?
2. As all smartphone, and including BYOP, have triple minutes/text/data now, there is no advantage of using a Tracfone smartphone over an unlocked iPhone or SamSung Galaxy. Right?
I see hsn just put up a ZTE ZMAX2. Any reviews on this phone yet?
Question i have a LG sunset (lg l33G ) can i add a sim card to this phone?
Can you tell me if the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime will use Verizon towers? Are there any new reviews on this phone? Thanks
Why isnt just a texting minute card available for regular tracfone ? I cant afford a smartphone
Why are just texting minute card available for smartphones and not regular tracfones ? I cant afford to by another phone
Because for regular phones, all the airtime is in one pool, thus if you want more texts, just buy another airtime card and all the airtime can be used as texts. On smartphones, there are different pools for talk/taxt/data. So if you're running low on just texts, you need a text only card to refill it.
I purchased the Samsung grand prime last month from QVC, very pleased with the upgrade from the LG41c....yes it uses the Verizon network.
I currently have the LG Ultimate 2. It's an ok phone, but I would like to upgrade from this one. Higher CPU power, more RAM (not storage), and a better camera is what I'm looking for.
What is the best Tracfone/smartphone that works on a CDMA network ?
Where can one find a current, up to date comparison website for all of Android smartphones that will work on Tracfone's CDMA network ????
because the android smartphones use the triple bucket system, therefore you are able to refill one bucket (in this case texts) while the "fill level" of the talk and data buckets are unchanged. you cant do that on a non-android phone.
hi Peter. i find your use of "airtime" in this reply a bit confusing. i think of airtime as being tepresented by my service end date. maybe its cuz i buy air time separately from refilling the talk/text/data buckets on my smartphone. and on my feature phone the balance readout is for airtime and "minutes". i mean,I know what you mean, but people unfamiliar with the lingo may find it a bit frustrating.
yes Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime uses Version towers.
i want to add my QVC Galaxy Grand Prime has MUCH BETTER WI FI RECEPTION than my Samsung Galaxy Stardust. the 3G Stardust remains my primary phone. i prefer the Stardust's pocket size and jellybean OS over the Prime"s marshmallow. but i use the 4G Prime for all WiFi work and reading when home.
Here it is January, 2017 and I've just gotten a Alcatel Pixi Unite phone. It's ok, certainly not great- but I rec'd it as a gift. Having a bit of trouble setting up VM (it uses a different phone number than the phones own number) and using some of the functions- but mostly it works. It's not on this list at all- but it's definitely an Android Marshmallow device. Battery life is horrible- lucky if I get a full eight hours out of a full charge.
So far it seems to have pretty good connection(s) / sound. Still very new so I'm sure more things will become apparent as a bit of time goes on.
